Rode 60 miles and push her to 80 miles. I felt like my helmet is going to lift me of the bike. How do you ride higher speed on naked bike?

Maybe I am just not used to it.
What kind of helmet are you using out of curiosity, does it have a good face shield on it to streamline the air ?

Open face - looks like Spaceballs. I am working on my position, just not used to it. Both my previous bikes had a shield of some sort.

Like Ekpent said, it should have a good face shield on it to be comfortable. Without one, you can get comfortable below the wind, but there will be times when you have to stick your head up and that jerk from the wind catching the helmet can be nasty. Even with a shield, I prefer a helmet that keeps my face warm at night in addition to being comfortably aerodynamic, and a WHOLE lot quieter. Invest in a good full face helmet, you won't regret it.

Another record setter for me!  First time riding in the month of February!  Last year my bike spent the whole month of February inside the house getting new wheel bearings, new tapered steering head bearings, front fork replacement/upgrade/rebuild and dual disk upgrade.  44F this morning, in February in Michigan! :o ;D

Yesterday I finally managed to do that battery maintenance and installed my quick disconnect for my Noco Genius G1100 (wicked smart charger).  What an awesome charger.  The charger leds showed that I only had 25% charge on the battery to start with. :o  No wonder I haven't been able to start the bike with the starter.  She fired right up with it this morning! ;D ;D

Finished the fork tube and seal replacements. Test ride tommorow! But no leaks yet. The Cycle-x fork tubes came wrapped in Japanese writing with Ja-Hon as the company. I dont think they are from Franks.

Worry? Yes!   Do anything special?  No!

When I get my '73 paid off, brought home and running, the '72 is getting torn down for a complete restoration.  Any rust will be taken care of then.  The '72 is going to be kept in the family for ever, I hope.  It was my father in law's, bought new in '72.  Family heirloom.  The '73 is for riding even in the winter time.  If I can keep it in good shape, great!

Got a few hours in on the 750 project...

Removed sprocket carrier bearing retainer.
Pressed out old bearing - pressed in new bearing.
New sprockets, front and back.
New brake shoes, and polished, drilled brake plate.
Installed carbs onto engine boots.

^ That wiring looks pretty messy.

I finally got my replacement fork, but it was a left (my good for is also a left) so I'm going to use it like that if I can (http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=101723.0)

Yes, I haven't gone through to clean those connections yet, but everything works, and the wires are actually in decent shape.

Geez Cliff, that blows! (the joke, that is......) I was gonna ask why anyone would need a fan to keep an engine cool in Sweden in winter, I woulda thought a heater to keep the engine warm would have been more appropriate? Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Rode down to Goodrich to pay on the '73.  Just a $100 more and it's mine! ;D

He helped me remove the carbs, intake and airbox boots so I could take them home with me.  I took the tank too.  Carbs need to be cleaned and rebuilt. Boots need to be softened.  Tank needs to be cleaned of rust on the inside.

On the way home, about 1/4 mile from his place, I noticed the bike was feeling strange, so I pulled off the road.  The rear tire was flat, or near to it.  I called the guy I'm buying the '73 from and told him my predicament and asked if he had an air pump.  Frank's a cool guy, he grabbed his air compressor and brought it to me with the tank full of air.  We inflated the tire and listened for the hiss of air, but couldn't hear any leaks.  On the safe side I stopped at a gas station halfway home to check, still had air.  I made it home ok, but had my son help me put it up on the center stand.  Had him listen with his younger ears, still no hiss.

I'm going to take some pain meds and go out later to spray some soapy water on things to see if there is a leak.

50* and sunny  I took the 550 out for a mid-winter leg stretch.  She sure didnt wana run, but a little carb cleaner and a battery booster with a START mode convinced her otherwise.  Rode along with my neighbor who was doin the same for his '05 Triumph.

Then took the 250 out for a short blast too. Stopped by Seanbarney's shop, but no one home. Then buzzed over to ekpent's place and shot the shyt with him for a while. Caught him just as he was getting back from a short blast too.  Thawing out next to the wood stove was just the ticket!  Thanks Eric!

The wing/sidecar rig didn't get a run. I took the tub off the frame a few weeks ago so I could remount the sucker. An unweighted sidecar frame would make for some pretty exciting turns!  So she has to stay home.

Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Rebuilt master cylinder on front brake, installed new brake pads (front), bled line.

Replaced and re-sealed tach cable.

You sir, have too many flat tires.

Tell me about it! ::)

Pumped up the tire and sprayed it down.  Air bubbles from the base of the valve stem, definitely new tube time.  Called Rocky's, but they were already closed, so I'll ride out there tomorrow and see if they can install one.  If they can't then I'll have to do it myself.  Still need a tube though, gave SeanBarney my spare last summer during the Rally.

That darn Sean, what are we going to do with these kids. :). Sure I don't have to suggest this to you MJ but hopefully you have or will look that tire over very well for something still in it as a leak anywhere in the tube will escape from the easiest area, and that area is of course where the valve stem goes through the rim.
