I moved my float needles to the middle position and while doing so I realized why my bike was not only running rich it was running like hell.

The nut on the choke lever had come loose which in turn released the pressure of the choke plate on the number one carb. The choke plate in turn dropped down and was permanently in the on position.

After doing all that the rich condition is gone and she is running like a freight train.

Lastly I finally figured out where to put my disc brake lock and helmet lock and other bits and bobs I wanted easy access to. I came up with the idea and paid way too much money for a vintage style leather bicycle tool bag. I measured it out and put it on and it fits and I think it looks OK.

That's me officially finished with my project. Its raining outside so just sitting here looking at it!

So I hit 105 indicated on my CB today. I decided to GPS it, so I opened SpeedoBox, which will record the top speed. When I took it out of my pocket to check it, it said "cannot find signal" and didn't record a damn thing >:|

Hahaha, no. It has a gauge that'll keep your top speed and display it, even when stopped.

Have it welded up and stop allowing the kickstart to flick back onto the stop.(maybe previous owner?)

I actually rode it to work today. Dark as crap, she spit and sputtered somewhat, scared the #$%* out of me. Wife ain't to happy, me riding it to work so soon after gittin it legal. Was foggy as hell, 42 degrees, and got alittle wet from the moisture in the air.

She did ok..............................still need to do some carb work.

Took 15 bucks to fill 'er up. Need to check to see what gas milage I'm gittin.

Other than that, people think I'm crazy going from a 06 Harley to this 75 K5. Its fun.....all I can say.
If it ain't raining, I'm riding.....~~{iii}?~~prost

If it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, it's because I cut and pasted from someone else.

Bought the bike for $100 with siezed motor, took the case to my welder and he said it's not worth fixing.  And if it was possible it would require surface machining to bring the case back to spec distances.  So I picked up a used one from ebay.

Put the seat on, cleaned the chain guard up and bolted that back on, mounted my bar end mirrors, checked  both tires for correct air pressure, lift gated it down onto the parking lot, rode it all over all day then rode to work. Thought about the final seat choice.

Rebuilt the master cylinder on the 750.  Freed up the pad and puck with a C Clamp.  Installed new rubber lines from SlingShot.  Cleaned out all the rust from inside the caliper.  Pumped fresh fluid in from the bottom until it came out clean on top with no bubbles, and BAM!  I've got a working front brake!

Also warmed up, and putted around on the CA95.

Interesting thought....I should get off my design rear and fab something up eh!?  Hednut Style...  Frugal and cost effective, yet DURABLE and Badass.

(Anybody have plans for some homemade rear-sets? lol)

I was hoping you were going to offer shop-made rear sets!

I got it really dirty on the wet roads this morning.  I'm going to have coffee and give it a few minutes to dry out.

Changed out the rear wheel bearings in a friends bike (formerly my bike).  Long story short.....recently sold an '87 VFR700 to a friend.  The bike never had a hiccup while I owned it.  He came over to ride with me the other day and a few miles down the road, he stopped because of noise coming from the back wheel....thought it might be a sticking caliper.  He came over last night and we pulled the wheel.  Brake was great.....bearings were not.  This is what we found.  Yikes!

The bearing had gotten so hot on that side that it started to disintegrate and heated the axle to the point that the nut on the end basically welded itself on.  :o

I felt bad for selling him a bike with a problem, so I performed a "warranty repair" for him.  He's on his own now, though.

I thought it was a keeper too....that bike was so cool.  Sounded great, ran like a top, looked very sharp and retro, and was fast......I just couldn't get comfortable on it.   :(  I'm cursed by my height....long legs and a bad back.

Went looking for a newer VFR....found this 2000.  Seems to fit me like a glove....a bit less cramped than the older version.  And I thought the other one was fast!  Fuel injection is a bonus.   :)

Do some searches on here for 98 vfr and I'm sure you'll come up with a lot of my posts... my wife had a red one when we met, one of my favorite all time bikes to ride!!!  My 92 zx7r and her 98 vfr were matched in speed and power nearly to a T, although the zx7r was a lot more aggressive in nearly every category of the whole ride.  I have a shaved down seat from her old bike that you might like to put on that to get the center of gravity down a bit for your tall ass.  Lowered seats can work well for really tall guys too.  Awesome looking yellow, the hard corbin bags are sweet.
