Actually I can relate. Wife's family is from Laos and do lots of gardening. Plus we are gathering ideas for veggies to plant in ours this summer.

I rode her all over, city, country, interstate.  Stopped at my buddies house and we took my headlight out and tried to sort out why my low beam doesn't work.  The contact fo the low beam is intermittent where it goe into the light.  Then on the way home my left mirror blew out of the ruuber mount. :-

That could be the connection inside the l/h switch.  Try spraying either contact cleaner or WD/40 throught the opening of the t/s slide switch...Larry

Thanks Larry.  It definitely at the headlight.  I works great until I wiggle the plug or push it all the way into the bucket.  That contact is pretty lean on solder and shows some iron oxide looking stain. I have a couple of extra headlights and headlight plugs laying around.

Put new a new Barnett clutch in the XL250s.
The manual says you need the special clutch tool to remove the bolt.
All you really need is a coupon for a $15 HF impact wrench.  ;)
Now it's wheelie poppin' time! ;D

I'd go ride the 750 but threatening clouds are threatening....

I posted a pix in the other bikes thread when I got it.
I'm about ready to shoot another now that's almost completed. (Gotta fix a carb leak.)
Yeah, I would be totally down with riding on 600 acres!
I've got a buddy at work who wants to go down and ride the national forest somewhere down near Houston.

Finished up the banshee... Added the final touches like exhaust gaskets, fender brackets, new fuel.  Kicked on it long enough to go into an asthma attack and finally just had Elizabeth pull start it with the truck.  Just fouled plugs.  Once it smoked off all the extra fuel/oil in the cylinders... SHEE RIPS!!!   8) ;D 8)

OneWheelDrive, the golding of the head is due to taking the paint beyond its temperature threshold, as far as I can tell. It's engine paint, and it bubbled to give you a feel for the heat. You'll notice it happened on the cylinder, too, just not as bad. I figure that might be due to the cylinder having steel sleeves for bores. Maybe it didn't get as hot. Dunno. Just conjecture at this point.

Good thing she didn't lock up on you, you can always fix the machine. Love the paint on it! Kinda reminds me of a skittles bag, not in a bad way. ;D Best of luck to you!

ThomasD, the paint definitely pops. I'm really proud of my Skittles!

Heffay, thanks for the offer to help me get Paddy up and running.  I'll take your advice and not give up on him (plus it's good for my kids to see Dad keep chugging even when he gets his hat handed to him)!

Yep, that was my guess mate, have you determined what caused the top end melt down yet? It's such a pity, that bike looks mint! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Terry,

I've not yet determined what caused my problem.  Here's leftover media from blasting the engine parts I found moments ago in the oil filter housing.  So, it could be a plugged orifice or two:

The oil filter oil looks like a 70's metal flake job - not optimistic at this point:

In the last 24 hours I've gone from this:

To this:

Hopefully, I can try to figure it out this week.  If not, it'll be two weeks due to my kids' spring break.

Total bummer on your head problem  :(... when I started-up my long sleeping K8, I unscrewed the tappet adjuster covers ( the intake ones ) and left them open. With the bike started and running a 'wall' of oil is visible over the rockers if your feeds are all o.k.  ;).... actually, did this on the 2nd. start, should have been the 1st. start  ::)
If your sure it's a carb problem; it's ignition,
