Finally rode my first 750 today!!   8) 8) 8)   I fit the center stand spring today, which was a PITA, made easier by a very cool little tool we had in the shop...like a metal tube with a tapered end, you thread the rod thru the spring's end, and use the end of the rod as leverage to stretch the spring onto the clip...very cool.  Also installed my finned side covers with allen head bolts.  Cleaned up the motor a little bit with some KROIL, which wiped the oxidation/rust/crud right off the aluminum.

Man, this bike is WAY faster than my 500 feels...don't know what's in this motor, but it felt waaaaaay stronger than I had expected.  The Corbin seat knocks the stock seats out of this universe.  8)

The carbs haven't been synced yet, so that's why it won't idle smoothly just yet.

Well I put new head gasket and o rings on my CB500.  Took her our for a spin and all was well.  Sadly, when the job was complete I found (4) 7mmx1 nuts and two washers left over in my parts pan.  For the life of me I can not find out where they came from.  My hope is that they were there when I started disassembly.  Any ideas??

Got my jets today, from DCC. I bumped the mains from 100 to 115, and lifted the needle from the top notch to the middle notch. Wow what a difference! Is it perfect probably not, but a great starting place. So right now I have to say the formula works well.

Some stats.

Rocker adjuster nuts? ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Picked up a set of exhaust studs for my 550, replaced existing ones, fitted exhaust and threw in a new set of exhaust gaskets while I was there. Spent a bit if time mocking up caps I'm making to block off the inlets where I've pulled carby and manifold off.

~2hrs after work today :)

Got the 650 out yesterday and rode it around a little bit.  Riding to work today, it's 34 degrees.  I couldn't drive my car even if I wanted to, unless I ride the bike to the shop and get my car.

Yup, and I can't wait to get it! I applied for a gardener position at the special school down the street from where I'm living. It's only 3 days a week, so it would be a great job to have while building the bike. Where should I look for a set of decent tools for a reasonable price around here? I found a set at some hardware store in Brunswick for $150 that comes with a metal tool box. It's about a 30min walk from my house though.

Hey - send me a PM if you need to go tool shopping and I will take you to a local 'Total Tools' shop. If you need help transporting tools we can use my 4X4.

(I am in Thornbury so not far away).

Don't go buying any tools yet mate, they're too expensive here and I've got about 3 of everything anyway, so you won't need to buy much. Good luck with the job hunting, I'd love to only have to work 3 days a week, but I can't get a "working with children" card, it's just so unfair, you fcuk one goat.............. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Rode it to work this AM for the first time this year. WaHoo! It feels like summertime out here in Omaha this spring, we had 81 degrees yesterday.
