Stripped the front end of my 550 as the threads are shot on the caliper/mudguard mounts. :( It's one thing after another.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Took my battery box to school today and sandblasted it. Will try and get it painted tonight or tomorrow. One step closer to getting the K6 going....

Fishtailing is good for your heart, right?

Went to the post office during my lunch break. This f$&$&ing gas truck driver went into my lane to backup to a driveway. I laid some rubber and was able to hold it vertical but it was bloody close.

easyest to do is baying a prolink cbx..for high speed long driving..and use the old as streat fighter..have to ask my vife...hope she like that idea ::)

Last night.....cut, welded, and ground an old tail light/license plate bracket.
Replaced the enclosure with something off a cb50 (I think).
Now my light is horizontal instead of tilted up.
(P.O. had put on some tail light meant for a trailer)

ouch that sucks.

It's not an SOHC and it's not mine, but I rebuilt some R6 carbs http://gnarlywrench.blogspot.com/2012/04/rebuilding-r6-carbs.html
and fixed a Ducati 999 wiring harness.

Today I rebuilt the Master Cylinder.  What a PITA to get that damn ring clip out!   :o  After lots of swearing and fiddling with a modified (aka destroyed) set of cheapo harbor freight ring clip pliers, finally got the job done.  No more black ooze coming from between my brake lever and the MC.   ;)

Just in time to ride over to IndyVinMoto monthly Bike Night this evening to see to some old beauties (i.e. the kind with two wheels).

That is the worse part. I managed to get mine out with superior chopstick skills and a pair of sharp punches.

I've already spent two nights, probably 6 hours trying to get that damn circlip out!  Tried some cheapo harbor freight pliers that I too destroyed, tried grinding the tips of a needle nose, tried prying with a modified flathead screwdriver, no dice!  Gonna go buy a pick set at home depot on the way home to see if I can get that little b@stard out!

May the force be with you!   :)

The way I did it was by wrapping a towel around the MC and putting it in a vice.  With a light overhead, I pushed the piston in with a screwdriver while working the pliers to get the clip out.  Sounds easier than it was....took many attempts.

I find that dental picks come in handy in these situations.

tHESE ARE THE PROPER PLIARS for the master cylinder circlip. They even have a radius to the prongs that allows them to seat into the wall of the hole where the circlip is.
http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/partno/08-0279/
I was lucky to inherit a pair just before i was to undertake the job. I said what the heck are these for, and when told i said Yeah! The MC i had chosen was from a salvage yeard and appeared to have spent some time underwater.  After some scratching around and some penetrant, the clip came right out.

Now your clip may still be buried in crud, and one of the holes of the clip may still break off etc. But if its reasonably clean and fresh, like 20 years in a garage, not 40 on the porch, the pliars get them first time.

Success!!! I defeated the damn ring clip in my frozen MC. I had a solid game plan this time.  It had been soaking in penetrant, and I snagged a pick set from HD for about ten bucks.  Once I realized you could pull just one eye out, and didn't actually have to compress the ring, it was pretty simple.  Three days in PB blaster didn't hurt either.  As soon as my caliper o-ring comes, I'll reassemble and finally have a functioning front brake!

I was told there are 3 PO's, and as expected, some good and bad done by each.
Tank is spotless. Tires are new. Fork seals are new. exhaust cans have seen better days.
Needs new sides and points cover. Wiring is pretty much fooked. Rims and frame are needing PC.

Does the MC kit come w/ a new circlip? or were you able to "save" the old one ?
