Looking good Jerry, I like the black engine. (and the thing on Terry's head, it's very fetching..........) ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Returning back home late yesterday didn't give me time to do anything so I started again this morning. I think I've pretty much figured out the headlight/gauge mounting dilemma so I went ahead and put all that together and finalized the install. I got all my headlight pieces out and started in on that but decided I wanted to replace the internal hardware too in addition to the NOS bucket, headlight ring, side reflectors and bases, and socket so I left it at that for now. I also installed my NOS turn signals. This is where I left it tonight. Headlight, wheel, brakes, fender, side stand, etc coming soon.

On the 550 I put chrome trim around my newly painted tank and on the seat. I also ordered electronic ignition.  The 650 I put air in the air assist forks and road it to work like I owned the rroad

Good news and bad news.

Good news:

I found the source of my oil hemorrhage. It was from the gear cover of the oil pump. I hadn't found that leak before (I thought the oil pan and clutch cover were leaking) because I didn't run the bike with the sprocket cover off. When I did, I immediately saw it dripping oil. As slow as 1 drop every 3 seconds, and as fast as a steady (but very small) stream. I was amazed at how fast it leaked.

Bad news:

Honda doesn't sell that gasket, so I had to improvise (otherwise I would've waited for the gasket to come in), and bought a 47mm (1-7/8") o-ring. Stretched it out a bit to fit the 50ish mm cover. Well, turns out it was too fat, and this happened:

Now instead of waiting for a proper gasket, I have to wait for a replacement oil pump. Thankfully it was only $20+free shipping off ebay.

Rebuilt a caliper for my dual disc set up on the 750 project.  We welded four different nuts on there before getting enough leverage to break it free, as you can see from this pic

When I got it apart, I was greeted by this

After a cleaning, a new piston seal, and some paint, I put it back together with the old bolts until I can get to the hardware store for new ones.

Also adjusted the clutch on the CA95, and put a few miles on her.

Yeah..looking good Jerry.  Think the "fetching headware" worn by the other Terry..is called a "do-cover" sometimes..because the Rastafarian's and Brothers wear them sometimes. Also reminds me of what we have to wear in Japan outside in the summer..to keep the sweat out of eyes..except it's usually "terrycloth" (get it?).

BTW Guys: I plan to go to Japan again this May or June.  Don't know if I'll be able to get to Kanto/Honda area this time..but may check out Kawasaki facilities..which is Kansai area..and much closer to where wife's family lives.  I'll try to stay in touch..especially with you Jerry..before I go..to see what's cooking.  Jerry: pm me..I don't have your current personal Email..okay?

Swapped out the 110 main jets in the K8 750 for 120's.... did a 1/2 throttle plug chop while there was still daylight. Result = better , now a full grey with an area of tan on the plug insulator  :).... now to shim the needles .... better to be at a slightly lean condition and trying to make more rich than fighting with a rich condition IMO  8)

Progress, slow but sure (finally)  :D

Today I rebuilt the battery box then installed it. I also installed the NOS tool tray and decided it just didn't look right without a NOS tool kit. The entire kit cost me less than $30 buying it by the piece from Honda. They didn't have the rear axle spanner but I found it at David Silver Spares I believe. Tomorrow I start on the oil tank.

-Picked up an st1100 a month ago,  had to rebuild the carbs, runs great.  then it started leaking anti freeze once warmed up.   it was too full of antifreeze and was leaking out of the pressure cap.    YES!! finally an easy fix.

Sanded down the orange peel on the cb750, ready for a new coat of Spray Max 2k!!

Worked on the Cafe seat/latch.

Being a tightarse, I decided against trailering my newest aquisition, a lovely BMW R100RS, back from Tom's house. Instead, I'm borrowing a mate's "Trade Plate" so I can rifde it home. So tonight I went over to Tom's to get it going, after it sat in his garage for 4 years.

Tom had pulled a few parts off it for various reasons, so I put them all back on again, replaced the knackered fuel lines, and checked that it had some sparks, and filled the tank with fresh 98 RON fuel. All good. Sadly, to turn over a 1000cc twin you need a big-arse battery, but the one in it is buggered, so I tried my little jump starter pack, but it didn't last long, so we gave up and drank beer for awhile.

I got home and put another battery (out of my riding mower) on the charger, plus a CB750 battery, plus my little jump starter pack on charge, so tomorrow it will fire straight up, woohoo! Tomorrow, we shall ride! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Continued putting my bike back together...

Stopped by spark plug wire adapters (the type that screw onto the top of the plug) and about 6" of fuel line. *angry face*
