Yeah, I was referring to the jetting tips list. I know it's not so cut and dry, but getting a starting point would be great. Either 105 or 115 mains... Should I just get a set of 105, 110, and 115s? They seem cheap enough..

I do wear a full face, but why do you ask? I don't quite follow :P

Took the Mrs to a Vintage Japanese club gathering...Nahhhh...it wont rain....turned into a monsoon...60 miles or so...forgot to turn the fuel on on the way out of the gathering..thought I had sucumbed to the dreaded sohc rain ignition gremlin...but NO....turned the fuel on, never missed a beat the entire 60 miles in a serious heavy down pour on the interstate...not bad for a bike with 28+ years on the ignition leads coils wiring etc...which I've never even touched...got alot of attention at the show too...was the only 400f there...Go Lil RED!!!...

Fired up the 750 and rode it through the park... felt weird... I rarely ride without a destination. But I did have to get gas.
And ordered up a cart full of parts for the 550 :-)

I took an extra CB750 shift case cover that I had and cut the extra off to make it have a more competition look to it. I will post a photo.

Stock side cover photo at the top.
middle photo, finished shift case cover.
My start on my modified case cover.

New seat is stylin compared to the old King and Queen one.  ;D

Uh oh.. I was flogging it down a hill and somehow missed between 2nd and 3rd, revved up from redline to over 12k.. Now one cylinder isn't firing. I hope I didn't bend any valves or blow up a spark plug. This just happened about 15 minutes ago so it's still too hot to look into.

Any guesses?

Back in the garage to play!

Fit new plug wires. Finished the install of the stainless braided oil lines now that I had both o-rings and new hardware. Installed the battery and turned the key - we have light, horn and turn signals. Rebuilt the rear caliper. Installed a NOS rear master. Installed the rear wheel. Hooked up the brake system.

Let's take a peek at what it's going to look like

Need to install the chain, clean and install the Kerker and start playing with the CR31 carbs real soon. Gotta start working more at the job now and less at the bike boohooo :'(

As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Been there, done that on 1st to 2nd. Floated valve, broke valve, BIG hole in piston, locked up big time, destroyed engine. Hope your's is minor. That is what got me into "fixing" these things  ;D The one of the right just went into it.

I got my All Balls kit sorted out and my new progressive springs in the forks. The result is not subtle! Those progressives really work! It's amazing what 36 years worth of technology can do!...then I rode the snot out of it for about 5 hours. I got rained on a little, but still had a blast!8)
The darn fool didn't know it couldn't be done...so he went ahead and did it anyway.

I installed a steering dampener and worked on dialing in my fork oil level. Added a half ounce to each side and was pleased with the results.

So far my front end has:

-Progressive springs
-new oil/seals
-All Balls steerer bearings
-Avon rubber
-GSXR steering dampener

Left on my list:

-New wheel bearings
-Fork brace

Any other handling upgrades I should be thinking about?

Thankfully it's not that severe. Engine still turns and runs. At first I thought it was just a main jet that got clogged up or something, so I took my carbs off and gave it a good cleaning. Went for a test ride and it ran decent (although it was shooting out flames and popping a bit at idle because I went from 45 slows to 38 slows). At some point during the ride, this happened. I don't know when, because I looked down at a stop light and discovered my engine soaked in oil.

I stopped at the local drug store and assessed the situation. Since I was able to get there from that stop light, I assumed I could get home (about three minutes ride), and I did. Thankfully no oil made it on to my rear tire and I didn't eat it.

Looks like I'm down for a few weeks while I get the minimum amount of parts (tappet cover, adjusting screw, and nut), then tear the head apart and go from there...
