Finally got my first seat recover job finished. Looks a little amateurish, but it works. Next up, gotta do something about that purple.

Bolted my 'F' all back together so I can ride tomorrow in better weather and see if I fixed my oil leak.  Spit and polished the old girl a bit and checked tire pressures.  Checked tire pressures on my VFR and Turbo too.

Really wish I could, but my work schedule does not allow me the time to make that kind of trip.  Where are all the Easter Washington / Easter Oregon riders???  I will be in Spokane (flying) for business the week of June  the week of June 18 if he wants to drop it off there.  Sorry, but that is the best I can do.  I started a new job this year that does not allow for much time off.

Well for the first time in awhile the sun was out today, so while quite chilly (46 deg F) I felt the need, the need for speed...........

Trouble was, I haven't ridden the BMW for awhile, and so the clock, ticking away, has discharged the battery (out of my CB750, so around half the size of the original BMW battery) to the point where it didn't want to both crank the engine, and provide enough power for a nice fat spark. Ok, so I'll take my Suzuki GS1000 instead. Key on, choke lever out, whirr whirr whiiiiiirr, PFFT. Bugger..........

Winter is a terrible time for batteries, and when I had my previous R100RS (once again, with a CB750 battery in it) I bought this little "on board" charger that was permanently attached to the bike. I guess I must have eventually installed a bigger battery, because the old charger was still sitting where I left it in my garage in 2004.



The battery carrier in the BMW is quite large, so I cut a piece of MDF for a "Floor".





Then I had to just strap the charger to the battery, with a couple of cable ties,



Once installed, it's a pretty neat little setup, and apart from the power cord swinging in the breeze, quite unobtrusive.



All plugged in, and nowhere to go!



I intend on getting club registration for my Suzuki GS1000E this month, so I need the battery to be in tiptop condition. I've got an EBay "smart charger" that I bought for my GS1000S, so I installed an unobtrusive female "BMW" style accessory plug, and wired it to the battery,



I plugged the charger in, and hopefully next weekend (if the weather permits) I will ride!

I can help you with that Cliff, I've got an F2 frame, engine, tank, forks, and a whole box full of bits here, just waiting to be reborn into a bike as beautiful as Tweakin's, if that's even possible! ;D

Tracked down a small oil leak hopefully, one of my oil pan bolts was missing. Hunted for my carb vent nipple on my 77's PD41a's, turns out it doesnt have one after all. Checked the valves for good measure while I had the tank off, pulled apart my spare set of PD's while I was out in the garage. Oh and rode the crap out of it to and from work today, so far my master link is staying put for a change. :)

Got the darn thing to idle!   ;D  Replaced the tach and speed-o cables. Took her for a test drive and tried to seat the front pucks (sanded them down a bit after replacing all the brake lines with SS braided and a MC rebuild).

Hope to add a proper battery, new tires and oil this weekend. Getting very close to getting her on the road again (last time she ran was in 84-85 so I'm stoked!).

Took my 350f out for the second shake down run. Played with the idle screws and have got it running better.  Taking it in for a safety inspection tomorrow so insurance will last longer then a week.

Test ride down the street after new steering bearings and master cylinder, did a rough carb sync as well.
