Buttoning the carbs back to the rack when this piece snapped...

I had one that was broken too. If you like you can easily make one out of some thin stainless steel or aluminum sheet. I got the metal at a local hobby store, but I have also seen a metal display for projects at Ace Hardware- they even have some small brass sheet if you want to get fancy Take one of the remaining intact ones and trace it out with an awl of something sharp onto the new metal and drill the holes before you cut it out.

Ha ha, I keep looking at my back yard and think what a waste all that space is, the kids are grown up, the dog is dead, the cats can go where they like, so it's not as if there's any logical reason why I couldn't put up another garage?

I think it'd be nice to have one garage for parts, another for a workshop, and another to park the finished bikes in, and with all those garages, mowing the remaining 4 square feet of lawn would be a snap!

i run without those,its to help the load on those damper springs,you can get away without them no problem.

I rode my bike for the first time since getting it back together.  It was for about 15min then it rained.  Wiped it down and here are some crummy cell phone pics

still reassembling after my fork boot replacement project. 

i've got the forks, caliper, wheel and fender back on.  everything appears to have gone on just fine, and axle is evenly spaced between the forks as it was before.  the wheel rotates, but not freely.  you can hear the rotor dragging on the pads when you spin the wheel and, using the pressure of my hand, i can pull the caliper out slightly to a position that does allow the wheel to spin freely.  the caliper adjustment screw is in the exact spot i found it -- six threads showing. wondering if there something i've overlooked in the re-installation? 
 
last night i loosened everything up (lower fork pinch bolts, caliper and fender nuts/bolts, and the end caps that hold the wheel on the forks) and pushed down on the forks a couple times while the wheel was on a block of wood to seat everything -- i did feel and hear something settle -- then snugged it all down again.  the wheel spins more freely, but the disc is still dragging on the pads.   

will try again to figure it all out tonight.

What can I say? Great minds think alike I hear you on riding it. Worst thing in the world is to only have one bike that doesn't work (while you hear other motorcycles in the distance).

This is a great guide to adjusting the front brake:

  Turn the adjuster screw until it draws the "B" pad (the "passive" pad that does not have the moving piston behind it) to within  5thou of the disc. Yes use a feeler gauge. Lock it in place with the nut. Now pump the brake until it is tight, then release. If the A pad is withdrawing properly, and the Master Cylinder is allowing it to withdraw as it should, you'll be able to measure your 5 thou clearance on the B pad once again. Smoothly, with no hitches.

I am looking for the Gran Turismo style ones. They are bulged in the center of the grip instead of a straight across barrel.

There is a shop here in Austin that carries Posh products, they have them but they are freakin' expensive, 50 bucks if I remember right.  If you want I can swing buy and pick some up for you.

Okay--

Got the carbs back on my bike today, turn the fuel on and no leaks! Go for a ride, come back and I'm leaking out of the #1, and #3 float bowls. But no gas is coming out of the overflow tubes. I just had all four off the rack, dunked them, cleaned them, and installed all new hardware, and gaskets in them.

What could my problem be?

Revival.  They are on the expensive side but they do get some cool stuff from Japan.
