Rode the snot out of it to and from work, as well as to the beach for a friends 35 birthday. Nothing like WOT on the highway in the sun!

I found this today:

I'm guessing this is bad? By the left rear engine mount above the oil pan. I'm not sure how long it's been there but the bottom of my engine has always been really oily.

Rode to the FedEx office and sent off some of the spare parts I've had up for sale. Polished the wheels, and waxed the paint.   Lowered my gauges so they are now level with the top triple. I took some old gold anodized push rod that i had from my shifter kart days and cut it down then re threaded it.  Used that as an extension to move the gauges down  Like this look better.

Have any pictures? I've been wanting to lower my gauges for a while but never had the motivation.

Well it looked similar except it was complete and on the road.  Different tank and the rear of the frame was still there.  I thought it was BikeEXIF's page on facebook but I guess not idk who it was...

Ah you have some aftermarket mini guages and a custom bracket. I thought you were using stock gauges and bracketry lol.

Looks nice. I might try something with my stock gauges or finally pick up this digital trail dash I ordered a long ass time ago but never picked up.

Got my new rear lowering shocks installed, and mocked up my new drag bars. Tomorrow I'm drilling the bars for wiring, getting new grips and will have them installed. Then I just have to re-adjust my float height, put in new float bowl gaskets again (joy) and she'll be back in action. Just 2 and a half inches lower front and rear.

Don't freak out. That is a casting mark inherent to CB550 engines....that or the three 550 engines I have in my garage all have broken bottom cases in the same place  :o

I actually ran into a guy with a CB550 in South Dakota while I was getting gas. I was on my way back from the relay and he had me follow him to show me what he was riding. He also thought the bottom case was cracked, but I showed him that mine had the same mark.

There was one just featured in the June/July issue of Cafe Racer Magazine. It's a customized Norton featherbed frame with a Suzuki GS1100 engine that's been bored and stroked to 1500cc....

Thanks Accolay. That puts one of my worries to rest :)

I didn't see this, someone in my motorcycle group did. Not sure where she was, but last I heard she was somewhere in California or PNW. Looks like a 750 chopper lawn decoration?

At least it's a deliberate 'yard decoration'. So many bikes end-up outside under a tarp that has looong since disintegrated and the bike has seized and rusted. Makes me sad/mad  :( >:(
If your sure it's a carb problem; it's ignition,

Well what raises my eyebrow is the fact that the engine looks restored, while the rest of it is slowly returning to the earth.

Was I correct in my guess that that's a sohc 750?

Kind of a SOHC. just one on each side. Air filter change on my Goldwing, 4+ hours. It's under all that. Say ah! Cliff.
