Swapped the right upper exhaust pipe from the '72 to the '73.  The '73's was rusted out at he mounting bracket at the passenger foot peg.  Trued the wheels up.  Many of the spokes where loose.  Wheel wobble was at .040" and is now around .008".  Going to have to upgrade the steering head bearings with tapered bearings, they're notchy.

MJ

.008 was the stock factory tolerance.

...took the K0 for a ride, after it I put on the K0 emblems and cleaned the rear wheel for the blue K2.

Hi Dimitri13
...nope ! no rattle can job, it is paint, thinking to sandblast the frame and paint it in nice black.

Cleaned the blue K2 and put on blue side covers, took off the front breaks and did new seals, put on white side covers @ the black K2.

Damn I'm loving that frame color! What color is it, is it powdercoated or painted? If painted, spray gun or rattlecan? I was thinking of doing a color similar to that, kinda electric blue, or how anodized blue comes out, but in paint.

I put the luggage rack on earlier in the week. Gave it a quick cleanup tonight and will take it to a thresheree/tractor show tomorrow.

I found out the hard way that the K2 and K6 grab rails are different. The rack came off my dad's K2. Had to cut on the luggage rack to make clearance in a few places and even then it still doesn't fit quite right. I will be buying a trunk to put on the luggage rack to make it a better commuter bike for taking to school this fall.

Pulled my exhaust, and dropped my oil pan to fix a small leak oiling my right boot.  Found lots of hard black plastic ring pieces, 2 small chunks of a piston ring, and a few red bits of RTV selant.  Not going to sweat the junk in the pan as I'm the 4th owner, my bike runs really well and does not smoke.
Got the new gasket on and everything buttoned back up.  Fresh o#l and a a quick start.

Rode with the lights off... I'm a rebel!

Love doing that on one particular stretch of road here. My low beam is broken so if I switch to low with the headlight on it'll still have the tail light and gauge lights, but no headlight.

Head job!  Not electrical shocks and lobotomizing :o  The bike! :D
Brushed the combustion chambers, in-out ports with metal brush and electric Screwdriver. Lapped/grinded the seats with 2 old valves with ok angles (inlet + outlet), carborundum coarse and fine.

Electric Screwdriver held the valve from other side helped a lot. Alternated the directions until the seats looked OK (1.5-2mm wide grinded stripe).

Tomorrow:
....  time for lapping all valves individually without cheating with machine. 4 new CycleX outlet valves and final adjustment of the OK 34mm inlets.
Then assembly the head with valves and springs waiting for final engine assembly. (when my final parcel from CMSnl arrive with the last o-rings for oilpump and internal oil lines)

I hope I can strip the frame clean too. I'll take it to professionals that will sand blast it and paint with 2-comp primer, then 2-comp black. When the guys are back from vacation...

The bikes frame will return to black from red since over 28 years. I hope I can change my avatar this autumn with my old bike in new and better shape.

Disassembled a set of "spare" cb750a carbs, to discover that #2 is probably "toast" because of the severe corrosion. :(

Member Pete E. came over with his 550 carbs and we made some adjustments that should help it immensely.  I gave him some intake o-rings, and in return for that and my help he gave me this float measurement tool he made at work.  He cut it out with friggin laser beams.  How cool is that?

Did some sanding & painting on some of the CJ360T parts. Pressed out the shock bushings from the swing arm.

Took my tire irons and the cutoff wheel to the 12 year old Chin Sheng tire on the front rim and found a little rust....
It should just clean right up with a wire brush, right? ::)
How much did I pay for this bike again? :-\

^That'll buff out.

While trying to tune my carbs for velocity stacks (I'm really close!), I determined I have an ignition problem I need to address. Plugs 1/4 were black as night, and 2/3 showed some signs of lean, but I didn't think anything of it at the time. While I was idling it after that (I changed the jets), carbs 1 and 4 were popping real good, enough to scare the crap outta me while I was adjusting a screw, and enough to dislodge the stack from where it was. That's when I put two and two together and determined this.

The coils/condensers and advancer unit are the only ignition things I haven't replaced (put new wires on the in-spec coils), so I'm guessing I need to replace the former and tinker with the latter.

THEN I can get back to tuning the carbs :)

Well it was only 12 deg C max today, (53 deg F) but being the manly man that I am, I braved the cold to do some work on Ken's K1. Now that his chrome stuff is back from the platers it's time to reassemble his rebuilt front forks, but all I managed in 6 hours was cleaning and stripping the front caliper and disc, beadblasting and painting those items with nice new black epoxy paint, cured in my industrial oven at 200 deg F. Hopefully next weekend I'll get the front end back together! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I wanted to install the clip on bars I got from Dime City, and drop the front end a little. What should have been a couple hr job turned into a 2 day pain in the @*&$.
I wanted to change out the stock headlight mounts so I had to pull the fork tubes clear out, no big, but when I took the front wheel off, he right lower leg..FELL ON THE FLOOR!
So I rebuilt the forks, polished the lower legs, and the triple tree. BLING! Or as my son would say...shiny:)
 I love these clip ons.
