Alright......today.....ordered new ss brake lines from Slingshot Cycles.

Got new front brake pads coming from someplace in Canada.

Need to order a MC rebuild kit.......any suggestions?

Bought a 1994 Chevy S-10 pickup $600.00.

Played with the carb screws again on the 750...........still don't idle at startup w/o having to blip the throttle.

But runs great when warmed up.

Yep - it's easy Terry - just refit the casing to the starter motor out of position by 90% and it still squares back togther and looks OK - but the internal magnets polarity is now reversed. I have done that trick TWICE. I pulled it apart originally to repair the fraid positive cable..big job and nasty soldering from hell. Now working.
Mark
Oh well...waiting for another pressure plate - I'll refit the starter motor. Easy - didn't expect that. Thought I'd test it..with an external battery - span just great....but backwards... clockwise. Crap again. Back out, refit internals - dunno why but now it spins correctly (I hope)...counter-clockwise,..right?? :-\
Gave up...watch some TV. Back into it tomorrow.
Mark

How the hell did you manage to get the starter motor to spin the engine backwards Mark? You know the engine turns anti-clockwise when you're on the left hand side, and clockwise when you're on the right, yeah? ;D

Hey Stev-o, do you live in the "Bible Belt" mate? I've heard of "Loose Women", but "Loose Livestock" is just weird.......... ;D

Fresh oil/filter change today on the CB. Gonna take it to a advanced riders safety course this Sunday at the Harley David dealership in Omaha. Figured it would be easier to throw around a 500lb bike than the GoldWing with my old a$$ on it.... ;)

It seems like the fixing of one bit comes with the breaking of another bit. I'm proud to say that I have fixed (most) of my oil leak. Enough to not worry about leaving a trace at every stop. However, when reassembling the sump pan and exhausts, I noticed a stripped exhaust stud. I left it as is for now, but also have no idea what I'm in for. Simple fix? Tons of early grey hair? Who knows but I'll figure it out.

Also had my left passenger footpeg/exhaust mount drop off on the highway leaving me hanging on by the engine. It's all in a newbie's days work.

That's a common problem with GS Suzy's Derek, sort out your charging system or you'lll only do it again. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Thinking about buying a Sumoto wheel for the build. Anyone ever use one? It's half the price of a new DID.

Very interesting sound! Last question, while riding do you get high off the exhaust fumes? Those pipes have got to be close to your face!

the 550s been getting smokey through the valve guides,i had a rebuilt head on the shelf for ages and a set of first oversize pistons/gaskets etc so i got my mate with a shop to rebore a spare barrel i had, today i chucked it all together.

check the oil soot on the old piston, they check out good piston wise but the old rings are right on spec limit.

two inlets were just kissing soot,i put this together from old parts 18 months ago and have been thrashing it since,it went better than a rebored 500 i built!.

id thrown it all together without a base gasket or those barrel o rings,i only wanted to run it to see how the transmission was,it went so well i made it my #1 engine!the no base gasket wouldnt have helped with the valve proximity though?

anyway its running again and i put 30 kays on it today, nothing over 5000 rpm for a couple of hundred kays,i havent even resynced the carbs i dont want to idle it,i can feel theyre off though low-off idle.
one tip,i polished the ramps that feed the rings into the cylinders before i gave it to my mate,it almost fell together,no screw driver nudging at all.

Took it for a ride, depsite the points being shot, and the bike running very lean off-idle, and very rich 1/8-1/4 throttle.

Will try my hand at welding for the first time tomorrow. Welding a reducer to a mid-pipe so I can eliminate this exhaust leak.

I've been receiving lots of parts from the US and the UK for my bikes, it's like Christmas in August. Tonight I got home to see that I'd received a set of front disc pads for my BMW R100RS, which was strange, because I received a set from the same company last week. Anyone need a set of front disc pads for an R100RS? Cheers, Terry. ;D

I'm sure that there's something that sucks about where you blokes both live, but all I can think of is Abo's, Salt Water Crocodiles and Dog the Bounty Hunter, and they wouldn't piss me off as much as winter in Melbourne. Poop. Cheers, Terry. ;D
