I said I would send you something for it and some for shipping too Stev-o.

Got a gl1000 front end or a 77/78K swingarm or a 77/78 cush/sprocket drive in that secret treasure box?

That appliance paint would look good on that battery box.

Thanks for the side stand sir!
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Kewl. I was trying to add to that 400F fund. Disney has mostly been paid for. I am sure there will be plenty of additional ones once we are there.

Took my 550 for it's first legal few miles today. Guess what? It's misfiring. Off with the carbs again.   ::)

Well done mate, looks to me like the PO liked to stand on the pegs with the sidestand down so he could kick start the bike, or he left the stand down and went around a corner, either way I've seen stands like yours before, so it must be common. Are K2 seats hard to find? That one's a K3-K6. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Got my points and condensers today. They were from Sudco.

When I opened it, I got a big surprise.

Not too happy about that.

Installed them, gapped the points, and set the timing. Not surprisingly, the 2/3 points were advanced all the way and still just a hair retarded. Had to open up the gap to .016" to get it on time. Very frustration.

Although it does run very nicely. Idles nice and the loss of power from 2000-2300 RPM is gone.

Wow... I haven't posted in this thread since it was in the early double digits.

Today I finally got my ass in gear and started in the re-torquing the head project on my 750. Managed to get bike torn down - from running condition to ready-to-retorque in the time it took my son to take his regular afternoon nap (hour & a half). Hopefully I can put it all back together as quickly (ha, ha, ha... yeah, right...)

I'm trying to get Ken's K1 finished and out of my garage, it's been here way too long, but anyway, it's almost done. Today, one of the "finishing jobs" was to install a Dyna 2000 ignition. Why a Dyna 2000? Not my bloody idea mate, I'd already installed a Dyna S but Ken said, no, he wanted me to install the 2000.

The box said that it was for a CB750, but the rotor wouldn't fit over the threaded 6mm shaft at the end of the crank, what the fcuk? OK, so I chucked the rotor in my lathe and (slightly) bored it out. Weird. The coils that came with it are 3 Ohm "mini coils" that don't fit the OEM brackets. Great, more lathe time turning up alloy spacers and special bolts.........

The Dyna leads come as one length of 8mm silicon lead with a plug boot on either end. As much as I hated installing the coils I liked that they came with special right angle caps that crimp onto the leads using the special crimping tool I bought, which look very neat compared to the ones that come with Dyna's regular coils.

I still haven't finished wiring it up and I'm scratching my head as to where to mount the "blue box". This is a very original 5000 mile K1 that Ken imported from the US, so I don't want the box mounted where it'll be seen, where is everyone mounting their boxes?

Anyway, all I have to do now is finish wiring the ignition, mount the headlight bucket and re-connect about a million wires, give it an oil and filter change, replace all the cables, and it's done. It's Sunday night here and he's picking it up next Saturday evening, I really don't know if I'm gonna get it done, so wish me luck! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Aw - you will get it all done Terry, you always do.

Besides which - I want it all done so you can get onto my job!

As for me - a mixed day working on bikes.

I cannot for the life of me get good pressure in my clutch line, so I still have no clutch control on the VFR750.

But I did have a great day tinkering with the tank and seat arrangement on the CB450 frame, all worked out rather well.

Just goes to show -stick with older bikes, much simpler to work on.

where is everyone mounting their boxes?

Will it fit on the front of the battery box, between the airfilter and battery.?

Rejetted my carbs again. But this time one of the bowl screws completely stripped out, so now I have two stripped screws (one still has a little hold) on the same side. Going to have to drill and tap bigger screws :( Thankfully it's the #2 carb, so it'll match the #3, while #1 and #4 match eachother with stainless regular sized screws :)

I don't think so Mick, also it's important (when setting it up at least) to be able to see the timing light on the front of it. I'm thinking about fitting it on top of the airbox but under the frame, I can just squeeze it in there and it won't be noticeable under the tank unless you get down on your knees. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Getting set up to disassemble and clean up the 750...
The POs poorly hand painted frame (amongst other things) have been screaming to be done up right.
I decided to take it for a spin first. Dang it's so much fun!

Well... while the weather is so nice... and it runs so well... I think I'll have to ride it some more before I break it down :) Can't think of a better reason (don't need one though) to put it off.

Had hopes of going riding wth the guys today, but good chance of rain put that off.
So, worked on the K2 project bike again. The PO had some ape hanger bars that I replaced with super bars, but the clutch cable was about 8" too long so I changed that out.

Also installed the right and left controls

That looks nice Stev-o.
yeah, I figured it would rain also.
Taking advantage of the cooler weather to plug away at the CJ360.
Spent a lot of time scraping & sanding the PC off the frame & swingarm from where I wish they hadn't coated.
Got the swing arm installed with new bronze bushings.
Made the mistake of drinking a beer. Motivation is fading....

K2 is really coming along! You really have it made too! You get to work on your bikes at a resort! Look at the landscaping!

Do you happen to have a candy red K1 tank set up? I dont mind if it is faded  perfer it actually  I'm thinking of doing something radical Tuesday night.

Resort? It's just my house and my wife takes all the credit for the landscape...Ha! (but have never seen her on the ladder trimming the palm trees)

Yeah, I have a couple spare K1 tanks, pretty rusty on the inside though.

If you have a red one can you tank me some pics and pm me. If not to dented to bad. My indecisiveness has finally been cured. How bad would the insides be? Send me a price too please. shoot if you can, maybe send me pics of any of the K1 tanks.

Didn't work out. Had terrible throttle response up until about 1/2, and would hang a bit. Also had a very weird idle. Gonna pull the plugs (they're new, damnit :( ) and see what I can tell from em.

Also took a ride with a few friends. Had some fun, almost lost the rear end in a curve, and took a nice sharp curve at fast mph and kept up with the Kawi ZX636 ahead of me.

Went a visiting to Dave the Welders place so I could pick up that Vetter Vindicator II fairing.  We had agreed on $40 for it but he refused to take any more than $20 for it.  The wife tagged along and we had a nice chat with him.  Stand up guy!

Managed to get it installed on Oliver this evening and went for a test ride just the evening light was fading away.  I'm all set to ride to work in the morning.  No pics
