You good to go!
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Ordered left and right long stem mirrors with 10 inch stem for my stocker K4. The PO had 4 inch stem shorty mirrors on the stock mounts and I can't see behind me in the closest 2 lanes, I can only see the outside third lane. This should fix that problem so lane changes will be much safer.

Had hopes of going riding wth the guys today, but good chance of rain put that off.
So, worked on the K2 project bike again. The PO had some ape hanger bars that I replaced with super bars, but the clutch cable was about 8" too long so I changed that out.
[free apes and cable if you want]

Also installed the right and left controls

Here is how she sits now

Up next is wiring

That's a nice looking K2 Steve, keep up the good work and who knows, you might get a nom for BOTM! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Rode my Hawk GT to Moto GP in Indy.  Had a wicked hangover, in between Motos I had to sleep in the lovely golf course grass in the infield of Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  Rode back with a great bunch of guys who really understood riding in a group.  I was super pleased with the way the bike ran and handled not to mention the 49.81 mpg.

Heard a pretty loud ticking sound coming from the valve train on my way home from a bike rally yesterday.  I over revved it pretty good the night before playing with the harley guys  ;) :(  When I got home I began my inspection to find that the tappet on my #2 intake valve was missing it's lock nut and had a good 1/4" gap.

I believe this is what was causing the "ticking".  But the sh!tty part is, I have to pull the motor now to find that nut and check for any damage it may have caused  :(

Question is:  Should I be using loc-tite on these or what? I tighten them pretty good (I thought).  Anyone else had this experience?

Yeah, its happened to many of us. I crashed one time and pinned the throttle wide open on its side. Nut spun off. I was able to retrieve it by raising the rocker box and fishing it out with a magnet.

Noneed for loctite. Just don't over rev it.

Interesting.  So that would only happen in a situation where the motor is over revved? Thanks!

Over revving is the only situation in which I've seen or heard of it happening. I suppose anything is possible.

ditto ^ I missed a shift passing a truck. Instant rocker clearance. Luckily my nut was still there so just  a valve adjustment and I was off.

Thanks Terry.  It's remarkable how nice the K2 is cleaning up. Plan to keep the original paint even though it's not perfect.

The 750 has developed a leaky #1 float bowl ... and a leaky petcock valve.  :o

Cleaned the petcock inside and out...
and a good "on the bike" cleaning of the #1.

They both still leak.  :-\

So I rode it to work  8)

My K5 had a leaky flat bowl and I changed it, had a small crack.

Glad you caught that!

I had that problem on the SOHC Rally but it went right through the tappet cover.  Try finding that bolt and locknut out on the road!  Ace does not carry it.

Drove the bike for about 14 miles at about 50mph like that to get to Fredricksburg.

This was the donor bike for the tappet cover.  Got lucky that that same place in Fredricksburg (Scootique) had a box in a back room with old parts from a top end rebuild from an old Kawi.  The bolt and locknut worked.

I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Yeah, that's what I would try first as well before pulling the engine.

I'm sure I floated the valves quite a few times. The tach needle flew past redline a lot.

Oh good, so my observation record of only losing a tappet nut by over revving stays intact. Course I've nothing to gain either way, just curious.
