Old Bike Barn are thieving arseholes mate, check out the "Bad Sellers" threads, and deal with them at your peril!  ;D

They F'd me over a few years ago when I was putting the bike together the first time I paid for Dunlop 404's and when the arrived I just opened the box saw they were tires and forgot about them for awhile.  When I went to mount them I discovered they had sent me discontinued Kenya's.  They refused to do anything but store credit for the difference.... and charged me shipping on the oil filters I bought to boot!   >:(

Well I moved on from the electrics (thankfully)...now it was time for the 1st real moment of truth - apart from firing it up for the 1st time....and that is getting oil pressure up. Those that have gone before me rebuilding their engines will appreciate that this IS a moment akin to standing on Everest...if u can get the oil light to go off! So I trawled through the threads and decided to go with the advice posted by Hondaman...to use the kicker 40-50 times followed by short 3 sec jabs of the button. So I hoisted the right leg over and kicked her 50 times..followed 30 secs later by another 50...took off the RH galley plug to be met by a trickle of oil! Fantastic! Battery went flat. Battery on charger overnight. Another 50 kicks this morning, battery back in - 3 x 3 sec stabs on the button and the oil light went out!!!!!!!!! Photos show it. I'd like to see Hondaman's right leg sometime - must be twice as big as his left if he does this for a hobby! Phew!
Also put on the carb rack and chain. Replaced the spilt link with a newie as no matter how, or how hard - I could NOT get the old F-ar to press back on. New gold link set cost me $10 and took a good deal of pressing with a G clamp - but now it's on real good. SO good - I have to say it was probably never on properly on the old one! Yikes!
Later today - pipes back on, rig up the fuel tank - and fire her up for the 1st (hopefully of course) time. Feelings of trepidation.

Think I would have just used the electric starter with the kill switch OFF instead of all the kicks....just saying  :o

Nothing - but fixed the clutch on jeep with new bellcrank. Figured after 26 years, the part deserves to be replaced.

You'll flattten the battery and risk overheating the starter...maybe. External car battery would be OK..but u still run the risk of overdoing workload on the starter innards.
I flattened mine with about 10 x 10 sec bursts. That's when I went with Hondaman suggested process. it worked...albeit tough on the right leg.

Tightened the tripple tree, it really needs bearings change but I want to do it when I have longer forks ready to install.

« Reply #11785 on: August 29, 2012, 04:52:12 PM »
Today I received (from FILTERKING on Ebay) new brake pads for the front and brake shoes for the back.
God willing and the creak don't rise, I'll get them on this weekend.
By the way, I now have fully functional turn signals (front and back) with that annoying "beep, beep, beep, etc" mechanism that sounds like a garbage truck backing up.  Whahoo!!!!!!
 :) ;D 8) :P

Did the ton, according to GPS, (which would've been about 110 on the speedo) for the first time. Was pretty damn scary because the rear end got squirrely for a second.

Changed the oil in my 750 last night.. what a mess!! I swear, it looked like a four-year-old had done it!

I held a funnel with my left hand while SLOWLY turning the plug with my right hand, so that when the threads were all the way out I could pull it straight out and not make a mess. WRONG! Dropped the damn plug into the funnel, which quickly filled and dumped oil all over the bike and the floor. Finally got it under control but not before learning a valuable lesson: USE BOTH HANDS WHEN REMOVING THAT PLUG :)
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

Lesson learned - that's what happens when you wait til the end of the month :P I worked at a dealership that did inspections, and we'd run out of stickers at the end of almost every month. And we weren't even one of the lax stations. We made sure ALL the lights worked, you had a plate light, all 5 reflectors, etc.

This is a lawn mowers, Cub cadet dealership kind of shop.  Took her to another place and she passed,  the technician was trying to communicate about turn signals  - she has none,  but Virginia does not care - I will fit them on eventually just for safety sake but as of now, I am happy with my 13 sticker.
