i hang my head in shame terry,,i had a vf750,,i admit it alright!

That's OK Dave, I remember seeing one at my first trip to Bathurst in 1983 and the rider was wearing a T shirt that read "Honda ripped me off", but I guess the ones that are still on the road now have had some of the issues fixed, and apart from their obvious fugliness, are probably reasonable bikes, but will never be "collectable", apart for their scrap metal value. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

The standard seat on my Triumph Rocket III is possibly the most uncomfortable seat ever to grace a motorcycle. OK for short rides, but anything over 50 miles requires a large dose of alcohol (not recommended) or a handfull of pain killers. Considering that I bought this bike to do some big miles, and I was disappointed that the 800 dollar progressive shocks I bought didn't make any difference, so I decided to bite the bullet (again) and get the seat re-padded and re-shaped.

There's a company here who promise to make uncomfortable seats comfortable again, so I dropped it off with some instructions as to what I needed, and the guy promised that it'd be done in 7-10 days. Not having heard back from him, I rang him after 14 days and he sounded surprised that I was asking how it was going, and told me that he hadn't even started it yet. Great.

Anyway, 24 days after I dropped it off, he rang to tell me it was all done. While I was pissed that it took 2.4 times as long as his promised timeline, I was happy it was done, and paid him his 450 bucks and took my seat home. It took me 30 minutes to realise that the reason it wouldn't fit back on my bike was that he'd used different bolts to secure the seat strap. I guess he must have lost the original 6mm "mushroom head" stainless screws, so he replaced them with hex head panel screws of unknown thread pitch that stripped the thread out of the nutserts in my seat base, and sat too "proud" of the seat base to allow it to click back into place. Once I removed the seat strap completely, it popped straight back on. Wonderful.

Oh well, apart from his tardiness, his losing my seat strap screws and his and poor mechanical skills, I like the job that he did. It was no easy task I'm sure, but he's done it in such a way that it doesn't look out of place. I really wanted to take it for a ride today as the weather is warming up now, but there was a car blocking my driveway, and the owner (and her keys) were miles away, so I vented my frustration by giving the big beast a well deserved wash. Hopefully it'll be a nice day tomorrow and I'll be able to get a ride in.

And yes, I know that I need to mow my lawn, I'm not lazy, I'm just being "energy efficient", so when I can't see the top of my fence over the grass, I'll cut it and use the grass to make an ethanol based fuel for my lawn mower........... Cheers, Terry. ;D

Removed the HD clutch springs from my 550. I had a painful right hand after about 40 miles.

You're not doing it right. ;D

Down the hill she developed this skip fire on #2 or 3. Today I looked into it and #2 cable just fell in my hand, looks like it was lose with piece of insulation in the boot.

Cut them all 1/4" shorter and screwed caps in anew.

The bike is a beast!! After riding this a CB750 fills like a mini bike I would think ;D

Terry, I don't like mowing my yard either ;)

Ha ha, it does a bit mate, with 2300cc's, there's a CB750 lurking in each cylinder, and it's physically massive, but still a couple of hundred pounds less than a new Goldwing, as I recently discovered. I'm glad I've found a "kindred spirit" who hates mowing too, most of my friends have houses that look like they should be featured in "House and Garden" magazine, but they whine about never having enough time to ride their bikes? I think they're probably gay.......  ;D

Terry, there was a turbo Rocket III up here a week or two ago, same color as yours..

Thanks Frank, I can buy a bolt on supercharger kit for $5000.00 that will guarantee 250 BHP at the back wheel from a stock Rocket III, but I've already accrued 5 of a possible 12 demerit points on my license in the last couple of months, so as much as I really want to have the most awesome bike in my street, (well I probably do already, I think there's only one other bike in my street....) I don't think I'll do it just yet. Would be a cool project though......... ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

If all goes well the answer to what I did to my bike today will be, ride it.  I may have it all back together today.  Other than a test ride here and there it has not been taken for a ride since I bought it in April.  Will today be the day?

Happiness is...
Refilling one fork before checking to see if there's enough fork oil left to do both forks and then discovering there's literally exactly enough left in the bottle to do the other... ;D
(Of course I did find another bottle but it was a different brand.)

Just installed a Ricks regulator/rectifier unit.  Will have some pics to post tommorow.  Everything runs awesome, and after going thru and checking my voltage with a meter it is working flawlesley.  Just want to give thanks to all the brains on this forum for helping me diagnose the problem.

Anyone in the Denver area want to ride.... hit me up.

Next.... going to my tachometer (shaking) but still reading untill 5k then it goes backwards slowly haha
