I am addicted to silicone lube spray. I just went over every nook and cranny of my ZRX and made sure nothing was dry. I have been storing it outside and noticed.... :-[ a bit of rust. :'( My baby has been tarnished. rust I tell you RUST! I am starting my quest to buy up every NOS factory sealed nut, bolt, switch, line, gasket, cover...etc.

Imagine if when you bought your ratted up rust bucket project the seller said.."Oh, and here is a tote of NOS parts that I have been collecting for the bike to bring it back to showroom." - I am going to be that guy

You should check out Boeshield T-9 for rust prevention. I use it on pretty much everything that is zinc plated.

Made a custom speedo bracket today...

Neat!

In the first photo, it looks like it is in the headlamp bowl - which is a good look IMHO.

I put my forks back together today. Still have to paint the top triple, but I did something damn it.

Well done Adam, have you installed them on the frame yet? That Killrust epoxy enamel is good stuff, I did lots of parts on Ken's K1 including the top and bottom triples, and they came up better than new! (don't forget to etch prime alloy parts before you paint them) Cheers, Terry. ;D

Haven't installed to the frame yet. I got some Killrust primer too. I've been waiting for a good day to paint, but the weather hasn't really been on my side. I may try to bring my parts to work and paint them in the warehouse. Since I have the primer I'll probably prime the swing arm and battery box as well. Can't hurt right?

Yeah, the weather is a little "hit and miss" at the moment, but it'll warm up soon mate. Priming everything is good. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

Well, not actually did anything to the bike but I picked a N.O.S. (51442-319-000) fork piston (need another one b.t.w.) and ordered gauge faces etc. from Marcel. Worked on a list of parts needed for the next step(s) and played my guitar - that doesn't count either

FINALLY got around to fixing two persistent oil leaks. First one was from the secondary oil drain plug near the points cover. That was a BEAR to get off. Had to pull out my impact driver and thor's hammer. The other leak (which was pretty bad, I might add), was from the oil gallery plug inside the alternator cover.  For some reason, I thought it would be a bear to get that plug out. Turns out all I needed to do was get a tent post (those cheap fiberglass ones that have elastic inside and they connect together), put it in, and tap lightly a few times. I was amazed at how little effort was required. Putting it back in was equally easy, and I was equally surprised. I also found it that it was aluminum after hitting with a too small punch and deforming end piece because it bottomed out in one hit.

Earlier in the day I spent about five hours out hunting down SS allen head bolts, and an o-ring for the oil pump cover. Managed to find the o-ring at the local hardware store down the street, because all the national chains didn't have one. Changed that out with little effort. Did manage to rough up one of the cover bolts, but nothing too bad.

I ordered the three oil pump o-rings last week and they came in today, so I picked em up. $16!!! I promptly lost them. The price isn't really what irks me, it's the fact that I had to wait a whole week for them. I figured out the sizes in both metric and SAE, and will be going out to hopefully get them at about $.80 each tomorrow.

Bought some Rustoleum hi-temp (500*F) grill spraypaint and will be painting a few pieces. Quick question about that, will that be enough to stand up to a mid-pipe (exhaust pipe after the collector and before the muffler)?

It was beautiful today nice and cool.  So I took the bike out for a nice hill country spin...about 20mi out the shortened clutch cable broke.  The end just came off the cable.  Luckily there was only one stop on the way home so I rode without a clutch.  I'm not trusting these soldered on ends.  I'm going to order a shortened one from Motion Pro.

Traded a local my spare cb750 frame for a  Kerker header, he's still looking for the can, and I painted the brackets to mount my hard bags.

Good: Finally fixed all my oil leaks.

Bad: Not sure what happened or how, but I believe I spun a bearing. Engine still turns over and runs (but no damn way I'll be running it), but holy #$%* is that a loud noise.

At least it won't leak while it's sitting in the garage...

Put the breadbox filter together, getting ready to re jet the 750 over my weekend. I used some upholstery foam I got from a fabric store, can anyone tell me if I should oil the foam or run it as is?

I believe you should be using a tube in the tubeless tire  as the shape of the rim sidewall  and the spoke gaps will be sources for leaks...Larry

I saw a thread on another forum where marine epoxy was used to seal the spoke nipples. I figure it's worth a shot.

So you're never going to adjust the spokes again? Or change any of them? Ever?
The spoked wheel will remain absolutely rigid and not flex at all?
There are many reasons it won't work...

I'm not too worried about tension until I need a new rear tire again and at that point I will likely re-lace the wheel. I might go back to tube type at that point. As far as rim flex goes, I'll be using a sealer that will remain somewhat flexible so I'm not all too worried about that.

Why do you want to eschew a tube anyway?

After watching a video provided by a forum member on the proper way to solder cables I have re-soldered mine and it seems to be holding.  I'm going to for quick spin since the weather is once again awesome.  Not going to far from home though as I really don't trust this cable.  New shortened one from Motion Pro will be here in 10-15 days and I ordered a new OEM cable as well as a back up to back up my homemade one.

I lost track of what model you have. If CB750, OEM CB350/400 will work and are shorter. IF you're already CB350, never mind.

350f.  Would a 750 work in a pinch on a 350?

Put 60mi on some nice Hill Country back roads on the newly re-soldered cable.  It didn't come apart.  Still don't trust it but it will have to do until the replacements arrive.
