Not much. Some kid rearended me on my way to work yesterday. Had to miss work yesterday and today with a sore back... Now I see why older people used to tell me "lift with your knees, not your back or you will be sorry"..... Bad back suck donkey balls

Tonight I will fill the lowest part of my #2 carb bowl ("around the corner") with JB Weld Stick in a last-ditch effort to keep my drain screw from leaking. The seat is corroded so that the needle part of the drain screw will not seal. New bowl ordered, but it won't be here before I leave for Barber in the morning.

decided to quit putting it off. and split my lower cases on my FO motor. My first rebuild, was a little leary of opening up the cases-lots of things in there! Most of which I am about to become more familiar with.

Moved the K5 to the shop for an oil change later this week.

Rode the neglected XL250s around the neighborhood a bit.
I haven't touched it since at least June but it started right up with just a kick and half!

Bought SS socket head screws and and installed the polished stator and sprocket covers on.

Then took a short ride and met a guy riding an old '86 Honda 50. He said his wife made him buy it!

Finally honed out the rear master for my F, and got it all put back together. Now the master works quite nicely, tomorrow I'll get it put back on and bled. I just don't like riding without my rear brake.

Fixed - i.e. shortened springs on advancer half a coil per Hondaman post somewhere here. Goes back to idle faster now.

Just picked up an ign coil for my 71 cb175 off of ebay. I put the engine back in the frame last year but that's as far as I've gotten with it and I need to get it all together asap before I start loosing pieces because I forgot where I put them.

Got to turn wrench on the latest interim project (that was only supposed to take a couple weeks). Put the valve train back together after replacing the leaking "coin" seals beneath the cam towers. The P.O. had seen fit to reuse the old, warped, cracking, dry rotted, coin seals (I know they were re-used because they had gasket sealer on them).

DAMN!

Tomorrow I'll adjust the valve lash, reinstall the valve cover, and put the engine back in.

For all the future P.O.'s out there, for crying out loud BUY A DAMN INCH-POUND TORQUE WRENCH!

Spent a couple hours removing everything from the frame except suspension. I guess basically the only thing I had to remove was the wiring, but somehow that took about two hours. Took off the harness as a whole, from electrical panel to the headlight. Hardest part I guess was getting it through a small gap in the triple tree I made by dropping the forks down past the top tree.

I'm deciding whether I want to relocate everything under the seat, or leave it as is and use side covers, and whether I want to make a bare bones harness or keep the stock one (which was completely gone through and everything fixed properly, then rewrapped).

Might get off the swingarm and triple tree tomorrow, which means the bushings and bearings as well. Not looking forward to that.

Rode mine down the street and met with Taxiscooter from Oklahoma. He was in town visiting family. Had a nice visit with him and enjoyed talking SOHC's.

Changed the front brake pads...........will see this morning if it still squeals like a pig.

Man, these brakes squealed so loud, I could hear them squeal while doing 70 miles an hour.

Well, at work now, and brakes did not squeal while rolling, but squeaked a little when applying it.

Can live with that.

That's no good mate, I presume you were driving your car? Get yourself checked out, you might have more serious injuries than you think. About 12 years ago a young guy locked up his brakes in the rain and skidded into the back of my car. There wasn't much damage to my car, but my tow bar went thru his radiator and into his engine, which he'd just rebuilt. All his front panels were screwed and he had no insurance, but he was so apologetic I felt sorry for him and didn't bother exchanging names and addresses etc.

Next morning I couldn't turn my head left or right without acute pain. Turns out I suffered some soft tissue damage and even now I still get some neck pain and headaches occasionally. Without his details I couldn't make a claim so I've had to just suck it up, but it p1sses me off. Make sure you get yourself checked out mate, you might have done some real damage. Cheers, Terry.

Upon reassembly, while torqueing the center cam tower bolts (the ones that capture the center of the rocker pivot pin), I discovered that the ham-fisted-too-cheap-to-buy-a-torque-wrench P.O. had stripped one of these bolts...

DAMN!

So then I got to re-remove the rockers, cam, and cam towers so I could helicoil the threads. Went ahead and did all three. Three you say? Yes. Turns out the fourth one already had the helicoil repair. Managed to re-reassemble the valve train before I ran out of daylight. Tomorrow I'll adjust the valve lash, reinstall the valve cover, and put the engine back in.

Did you put a thin smear of sealant around the edges of the rubber pucks mate? If you didn't, it'll probably leak, they put sealant on them in the factory. Cheers, Terry.

Yeah, I dressed the edges with a light coat of sealer, I did NOT want to do this again any time soon! Especially since I hadn't planned to replace them to begin with. The shagged ones that were leaking had gobs of gooey sealer, something I have not seen on originial condition head pocket seals. I had done these on my K8 a couple years ago (the one I've owned since 86') and the factory sealer was much more subtle. The helicoil on the one cam tower bolt was another clue that some CLB had already been there and couldn't be bothered to replace them. Thanks for looking out me though, I've been known to overlook an obscure detail from time to time!

Swapped out a new pull throttle cable for my current K1 project. Cleaned up the best turn signal housings I have for it as well and mounted one side. Project is so close to being complete! I can't wait till it's done!

Side note, the motion pro throttle cables are a tad bit longer then the OEM ones.

Read some stuff in Hondaman's book & I have been cleaning up the K1's exhaust system.

I'm concerned that the unleaded fuel is going to rust it out quickly though - need to look into that
