Bought another HIPO head.... ;)

I wish the pictures were clearer in that ad, but that looked very promising!

Been talking to Mike R and pricing stuff up and i couldn't go past that for the price. Its going on a 900cc bike i'm building and will be sold on to finance my other 2 bikes, if the head needs any work i have an awesome HIPO SOHC mechanic that will work his magic. Now to decide on which cam....  Decisions, decisions.... 8)

I checked tappets the spare engine, the plan is to adjust them and run compression test to see what is what.  That was yesterday.

This morning I rode to work and saw 10 point buck in the ditch just standing looking at me and later on this 6 pointer run cross the road.  I sure slowed way down, LOL!

Bought it.  Fixed it.  Broke it.  Fixed it. Rode it.  Broke it.  Fixed it.  Rode it.  Put it away for the winter.

Now its time to acquire the new bits and pieces to make it better than it is now.  New gauges arived this week.  Lots more to do during the long New England winter.

I bought lots of bits for my CX500 and Goldwing. New Seatcover for the big wing, braided front brake lines for the CX, plus I managed to find a nicer "original paint" tank on EBay for 125 bucks, and a NOS front fender for 50. It'd cost me twice that amount to get my fender re-chromed, so I reckon that's a great deal.

I almost bought another Goldwing (first EFI model) but decided to wait until after Christmas, I need to make some space in my garage, so I'll need to move another couple of bikes out, once they're finished. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Ha ha, that might be the go Mick, I'm talking to a wrecker in Michigan about importing complete bikes next year, so I may need some more space if it works out? Cheers, Terry. ;D

Ha ha, I don't think I'll need to go to that extent Cliff, I'm looking at importing some cheap pre-1988 Harley Sportsters, clean them up and re-sell them.

I want one for myself (with a 1500cc big bore kit, so it'll keep up with CB750's....) on classic rego, and I'll flog the others for resto/chopper/Bobber projects to make a few bucks on the side. I need to sell a couple of my bikes first to make some room, but I think it's do-able.

I do like Mick's idea, I've got a line on some Vietnamese imports, but for health reasons (mine) I might have to pass....... Cheers, Terry. ;D

Finally got back to the CJ360.  Replaced the rubber base gaskets in the gauges. The old gaskets looked like old beef jerky! Replaced a couple of dead bulbs and cleaned up the gauges and got then on the bike.
Squeezed the rebuilt carbs onto the motor.  Tomorrow I'll get the airboxes on and if I'm really ambitious I'll hook up all the wiring in head light.  It's getting close to running!

Exactly. She's not very big but she's a like a little ball of anger when I piss her off. (often) Think of the Tassie Devil in those old cartoons, and you're there. That's OK, she says I remind her of Foghorn Leghorn, and I can see the resemblance, ha ha! ;D

Well I took my CX500 for a ride yesterday, and once it got near the 6K RPM mark (around 65 MPH in top gear) under load, it missed and farted and burped, so I turned around and came home again. I pulled the carbs and cleaned them for the second time in a week, even though they were spotlessly clean when I pulled them apart. Anyhoo, I put them back on, took it for a ride, and, it had made absolutely no difference.

This morning, while ratting through a box of old CB750 ignition parts I found a pair of coils with decent looking plug caps on them. Not CX500, but they looked (just) long enough. I pulled them apart and they still had the original resistors in them, and they looked nice and clean. I swapped them out and took my bike for a ride around the block, and voila! Problem (apparently) solved. The engine now revs stright thru to redline, (9750 RPM) with no hesitation and stalling at the 6K mark. Excellent. I think I better go for my first decent ride since I bought it. Cheers, Terry. ;D

worked on the 78 F motor today.  sized rings to cylinders and verified gaps.  fit rings to pistons and installed on rods.  seated the jugs and saw the 2 knock pins sitting on workbench, so had to pull jugs back off and put the knock pins in.   put jugs on over pistons for 2cd time.  called it quits for today.

Performed a colonoscopy on my Goldwing.  It pisses me off that head gaskets go bad!

Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

I put over 100 miles on the 400, bringing the total since reassembly to 350 miles. And (other than a melted fuse box) no unpleasant surprises. I think that the operation was a success.

That's a new thing.  I got pieces off of 78F2 - engine, wheels and front fork.  With the K3 frame, it is almost complete bike, right?  Just needs assembly.:)

Fun little bikes aren't they, Terry?   A bit  :P ::) underpowered though, I use a Silverwing GL500I as my daily rider-with all the bags and fairings it is even slower.  The 650 was the way to go...Larry
