Ride Goldie or work on my '74?? I decided to start the '74. Removed the front end. Rebuilt the forks. PO had one spring 2.5" longer on one side. I sure am glad I have a stash I parts. Grabbed 2 matching springs and now will wait till tomorrow to polish the lowers. Installed new all balls tapered bearings and new to her fork ears from franken. The goal is to have her running this weekend. I have to drop off uncut handle bars to be cut for internal wiring. I have brand new tires that will go on this bike. Shouldn't take much as I hope to list her by next week at latest.
Can anyone tell me if this is a proper hand control for a 74 750? The wires are extremely soft as well as the black cover over the wires.

Last night, tried my home made carb sync tool out, sucked. Poor poor results with the jar version, ran terrible and couldn't even get very close.

Today, pulled the rack off and bench synced with a 1/16" drill bit, rechecked my float levels, put them back on, idles smooth as silk now. I suppose a vaccum sync would be even better but im satisfied for now, runs like a sewing machine. Just as I got that done, the UPS man showed up with my Cafe hoop, so I headed to the welding shop, got that installed. I can't stress enough how great that Dime City hoop is...it slid right into my frame with minimal effort, a couple of quick beads and done.

First real miles of 2013 driven today on my K1 46.8 miles today. 12 miles with the wife but she made me go back as 52 degrees was still to cold for her.

The bike looks rougher then I would like but I really want it to look its age.

Yeah, that's a really rough looking bike.

NOT!

I got my insurance switched over from a BMW to my cb750 k5. Plate tomorrow, but will have to wait for warmer and drier weather up here near Toronto.

Awoke the mighty 750 from its winter slumber. Before I could go anywhere I had to fix a leaking front caliper (that took off most of the paint I put on last year >:(). Not really sure what caused the leak as I rebuilt it with all new parts. Either way I cleaned everything out and used a small wire brush to clear the seal area (again) so hopefully that fixes it. If not I may have to go searching for a caliper with a seal area in better condition than mine.

Once that was done I put on a very enjoyable 40 miles running errands 8) She started right up and ran great on the old gas.

Rolled over another 1000 miles on the 550...
Had a few electrical problems pop up in the last 100 or so...
It wouldn't always turn on. I suspected the switches as I've had problems there before.
Last night low beam went out, and then just before arriving home, the left blinker caused all power off...  wtf?
but it came right back on. ... still ... wtf?

This morning ... no power at all... pulled a few things apart.. and luckily it didn't take too long to find the culprit.
Got a new solder gun (my old one puked) and put it all back together... and picked up a new headlight on the way to work.

So, when I got my bike, just over 5 years ago, it was in parts, but it had brand new cheng shin ribbed tires.  They sure looked classic, and they seemed to ride pretty well. I ride a little "spirited".  Well, back tire was squared off pretty well, and I am about to put on at least one thousand miles on it for the relay, so I bought some new tires.  Holy hell!  How did I even ride on those #$%* tires?  This bike feels brand new.  Stable as a rock.  I'm in heaven.

Sold "Black Beauty".

Been listed for a long time [week and a half] and there has been some interest and an offer to trade for a '67 Winchester! [no thanks].
So I get an email from a guy named Anthony this morning, want to look at the bike at 3:30, ok. So about 3:00, I get a text from a guy named Anthony and wants to se the bike, ok, see you at 3:30 near the entrance of the bar Emo's.
So I back Blk Buti out of the bat cave, starts right up and ride a minute over to the meeting place and park, it's 3:25. I see a guy and ask if he's Anthony, no. And says hey, nice bike yada yada. Minute later, a car pulls up, guy jumps out and I ask You Anthony? Yeah.  So I start telling him about the bike. Two minutes later an SUV pulls up, guy gets out and says I'm Anthony. WTF?? I'm thinking, Cool, two guys here want to buy my bike! So, I start my sellers spiel over, yada yada and go to start the bike, no go. WTF? Kick it, starts right up, blip it a couple times, it's effen loud! I jump on it and run up and down the park lot to show them it's running great. Go back and explain Sorry, no test rides, if you go down and walk away, I'm screwed. No Problem.
Then Anthony #1 asks if #2 if he wants it and he says Yes! #1 says it's too nice for him, I was going to make an offer. Up to this point, Anthony #2 hasnt said two words and we bid farewell to #1.  So then #2 says he wants to buy the bike now, asking price, but doesnt know how to ride! Is taking the class this week and asks if I would ride it to his apartment a mile away and he'd give me a ride back. You got cash?, ok, lets go!. BTW, I gave him some cash back and told him to buy a new battery.

So, bike is sold and gone and I have some cash for buying Z1 parts!

I got a set of Pirellis.  Glad to see that you sold the bike, does that mean new exhaust?
