Good to hear Joe, looking forward to some "spirited riding" with you in the Hills in a couple weeks.  What tires did you get?
I got a set of Pirellis.  Glad to see that you sold the bike, does that mean new exhaust?

Well, I certainly could.  But like to keep a little cash in the "bike kitty" in case I come across a smokin deal.  Beer's on me Amigo!

Hell yeah Ghia...new tires are, hands down, my favorite thing to get for my bikes.  Probably 'cause I always ride the old ones to the bitter end...

Ugly? That bike was Black and Beautiful! And ran great with the pods!!

Here's another for sale in my area for comparison, ok, I'll  admit it is a little prettier...

Prices are higher down there for sure and the economy has to be better than us poooor folk up here in the rust belt. That story about the two different Anthony's would have made me a little nervous Steve, especially following one home. Be careful out there, some real nut cases running around. I have an antique dealer friend over in Chicago who has been rolled a couple times on bogus calls and meets.

I'll admit, I was a little nervous but we met in a public place. I never let anyone in the bat cave and prefer not to meet buyers at my home, concerned about theft  Ive heard the stories and you need to watch your azz.

Worked on my '74 750 today. Installed a new rear rim with a new tire. Cut off the old chain. Worked on the electrical but can't get some issues resolved.

Not sure why I have these "extra" wires.

When I have the green ground attached to the positive battery post the neutral and oil light stay on (dimly though) when the key is turned off and the lights in the gauges stay lit. When I turn the key on, with the green ground not hooked up the neutral and oil light work properly and the lights in the gauges do not work. Those damn gremlins!

Do you have a flasher mounted, that could account for the other wires

Thanks Tin.. I thought that as well. I trouble shot that idea and it's not it... I am going to take the entire panel apart and redo every piece, one at a time.. I must have missed something

I hope this is a typo because this sounds like a big problem!

Lol no typo. The PO had it that way and after looking at my two K1s I realized that was the incorrect set up. I believe the green wire with the hoop gets attached to the battery box bolt to frame.

Hey stev-o

Could this fry electrical components? If so which ones should I replace?
My hand controls shouldn't be effected?

That single more minor ground wire may not have fried any components. I accidentally touched mine to power while routing and didn't fry anything or pop a fuse surprisingly, I got lucky. I would finish installing stuff and if you get no power or issues test the rectifier and check fuses. Rectifier is usually what gets nuked with that backwards hookup

I had my oil draining from my bike for the past 2 days, just got busy and couldn't finish.  So I put some new oil in (3.5l) and take her for a spin to see the new little beauty (cb1100) at the local shop.  I noticed my bike was spewing oil out of the reserve cap and checked the level and it was high.  Then I get a message on my iphone alerting me to a tornado warning in my area so I thought I would take the quicker way home and hop on the highway.  Traffic Jam. forgot to mention my battery is pretty much dead so I am kicking her.

Nothing worse than to be stuck in a traffic jam on the highway in a tornado warning, pissing oil, and have a dead battery. . .well except wrecking 8)  I just don't understand how I put so much oil in.  One thing I didn't do was kick it while the oil was draining because I thought that was bad, could that have caused the overflow?

You don't kick while draining. You can kick after having filled it back up to circulate the stuff and see if the amount of oil is low in the engine/tank. I go 3 quarts and get it going and see how the level looks afterward after running and cooling

Thats what I thought.  I did kick after I filled the reservoir.  No doubt I put to much in (i hope).

What I do on my 750's when draining the oil is after I drain the tank and engine I tip the bike radically to both sides and hold it for a few. You will be surprised to see how much more dirty oil will come out when its put up straight again. Tipping it gets more oil out of some of the side cases and other interior areas. Try it next time for fun.

A week later? I would ask how many miles he put on it since he bought it, proof of miles and how he came to the conclusion the top end needs rebuilding.

I sold my 78 550k last summer and had the new owner text me saying it was running on 3 cylinders, points were jacked up, timing all messed up.  I told him I would call him once I got the kids to sleep. Then he responds no worries as his lil brother is a gear head and got it all ready. Then went on to say the bike runs great. I was relieved cause I don't know what I would have done if he asked for a refund.

Bit the bullet and ordered new polished, stainless spokes for both wheels, from Buchanon's. Very pricey, but should look good on my new rim.
