Leaky float causing gas to leak into the cylinder, building explosive mix in crank case and the clutch cover was the weakest link?? Just guess'n here.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

^^No

It seems in theory like it could happen but, well, no it wouldn't. Something wasn't right in that basket or tightening procedure

Rode it to work today, it's been nothing but blue skies and hot temps lately so I've been enjoying myself a lot on my daily commute.

Ordered the carb kits for the 550. Hopefully I have them this week and I will be able to dig into the carbs and clean them and install new gaskets this weekend.

Finally got my seat installed and rode it a bit between rain showers:

Looks nice with the rear seat hoop.  I couldn't see any of the stock tabs/brackets for the seat, what method did you end up going with to mount it?

Thanks man,

The tail lights underneath lock into the seat hoop holding the back down, and then there are two bolts welded through the seat pan that go through some holes in the frame and they are held on by nylock wing nuts. Gets the job done.

It was evening full of sex - I played with jugs :)

Installed rings on one piston and practised with homemade ring compressor and cylinders.  With the right thickness of wood support it is not that tricky, but this was just one piston. It will be interesting experience for sure.

Sold my 1972 Cb350-kind of sad to part with it as it was in VG condition, but the engine was quite noisy so the selling price of 1100 was satisfactory to me....Larry

...worked @ the K2, cleaned the carbs with ultrasonic but still not able to sync it @~1000 RPM  >:(
Checked the float and the level @ carb#2 was much to high! Adjusted them all and did a good cab sync  ;)

I just cleaned and smoothed 3" steel band - normally they have sharp edges, it takes a bit off sanding to make them slide on piston.

Back in the day, my dad had one for 2 strokes - just piece of sheet metal with two screws, nothing sofisticated.
