I drove a K1100RS (flying brick) and it was build from ~1992-1997. Terry's  K100 was the model before and it was build from 1983-1989 and
in 1989 came the K100 RS 4V.

Thanks Georg, to quote Meatloaf, you took the words right out of my mouth! For Dwight, the BMW K100 series bikes were rolled out in 1983, and the same basic engine evolved into the K1200 which ceased production in 2004.

The "Flying Brick" is a great bike, BMW managed to build a sports bike that was comfortable to ride for long distances, and the engines will last for hundreds of thousands of miles if you remember to occasionally change the oil.

My first K100 (an "RT" or "Road Touring" model) was 5 years old when I bought it, but had almost 70,000 miles on it, and I was a little worried about the high mileage, after so many years of owning Jap bikes. I needn't have, I did another 30,000 miles over the 2 years that I owned it before I bought an R100RS, (what a mistake that was!) and it was perfect, one Saturday morning I was bored so I did a 1000 Kilometer (600 mile) ride that day, and only stopped for gas and food. Kind of like a German GoldWing! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Yeah mate, I've always wanted a K1, they don't look as outrageous nowadays as they did in 1989, but were a great bike. One day........... ;D

Wife and I did a bit of well needed maintenance on her cb400t2, wrapped the exhaust baffle, valves checked and set, carb sync, new front pads.

Heading back out to re visit my static timing, got it close awhile ago but need to get it bang on.

Edit: Well due to a half stripped 1-4 points screw, my points were out a bit as I suspected. Tapped the thread out to an 8/32 and now have nice Allen head screws in both points. Re gapped, static timed then checked with a timing light. Dead on the F mark and advance is spot on as well for both, runs like a top. Went for a midnight ride and filled her up. Now that I've got new points and condensors and things set right, I'll just forget about that DynaS I have lying around. I quite like points and the routine service of them, same with valve adjustments.

Left the camera at home(don't do that very often) rode both the CB's yesterday. They feel small compared to the 77 goldwing, but these 750's are hard to beat both bikes run so good. I've had the K6 since 2009 and got the KO in 2011 and never a problem out of either bike 8) Just hope when I get the Wing going that it does as good ;D

It's been a busy weekend for my 750f. Friday I replaced the fork seals and repainted the lower legs of the forks, yesterday I finally got the rear brake working like it should, installed a pair of horns I got off ebay and synced the carbs. Today is when the real fun starts and that's tuning the pilot jet screws in an attempt to get the engine to idle without having to play with the idle speed screw all the time. Setting the valve lash, adjust points, set timing and sync carbs all helped improve idle but it's still not right. As it stands now if I turn idle speed screw up to get it to idle then rpm shoots up and hangs at 3 grand the moment I blip the throttle and wont go down till I adj idle speed screw again. I'm still new to PD carbs so this is a learning curve.

You may have an air leak somewhere.  Start it, and get it idling (rpm doen't matter, and don't touch the throttle).  Spray some carb cleaner around the intake boots.  If the idle goes up, that's where your air leak is.  Also check your cable routing, and make sure it snaps shut.

I pulled the carbs off for inspection/rebuild and found nothing wrong except I don't believe I should be using 120 as a main jet and 40 as a slow. I have velocity stacks and 4-4 open drag pipes.

Twin you are probably gonna have to step up to a 42 pilot and move the needle clip around. Maybe 45 but I'm not sure

It had a very slight leak at the cyl head spigot end of a couple boots and sealing those helped plus adjusting the pilot screws helped as well. Basically it's a bunch of small flaws that I'm spotting here and there that when added all up is creating the problem, it is responding though every time I spot something. I wasn't able to take it for a ride after I sealed the boots and adjusted the pilot screws because it started raining but simply starting it up and letting it idle seemed better than before. It wont be until I take it out for a ride and get it up to operating temp till I know for sure. It's basically a bike that's sat for a while and has a bunch of cob webs to clean out so to speak.
