Welding aluminum was an art that I thought had eluded me. I bought a special torch for my MIG but it was unsatisfactory, so I bought a TIG but I just made a mess with that, so this week I bought another MIG with a "Spool Gun" after watching some youtube vids.

I'd managed to make a mess of repairing Mike's top case where the rear mount had been busted off, so the new welder was my best hope. Luckily it works brilliantly, and I was able to fill the hole I'd burned in the top of the case beautifully.

A bit of grinding, a bit of milling, and after some sanding tomorrow, the cases will be ready for stripping and fresh paint. Woohoo!
