Took delivery of this K3 [supposedly] former vintage race bike. Have hopes to get it on the F1 race track in Austin...ha!

Has some cool bits on it [seat and fairing, rearsets, breadbox, Kerker], think it will be a cool project. What fairing is it??

Sorry for the bad pic, the batcave has poor lighting.

I'll collect parts for it for now, trying to concentrate on the Z1 for now.

G'Day Steve, what a piece of shi, er, I mean, history! Ha ha, I can't see much in the way of real "Racer" parts on that bike, but who knows? The engine might be chock full of shiny Yoshimura parts?

The fairing does look reminiscent of an old Bevel Drive Ducati 900SS fairing, but many manufacturers made similar ones back in the day, I've got an Egli fairing in my garage that looks similar. Good luck with it mate, I hiope it goes better than it looks!

Ha....you don't have to sugarcoat it, Terry! I doubt the race bike story myself, but I bought the bike, not the story.
It will be a challenge, no doubt, and a bike you don't see everyday.

I made an xmas list of bike parts

I also popped on to Bikebandit last night to make use of the Cyber Monday deals, mostly because I noticed they had the turn signal buzzer in stock. (I know, I'm one of the weird ones who likes the thing!) Today they let me know it was forever out of stock. We'll see if they update the site too.

Ah well, I still got a set of tank mount rubbers out of the deal. Still bummed, I was super excited to have a buzzer that didn't sound like someone was trying to drown it.

Did you ever have any luck finding an acceptable new replacement or an NOS Honda part?

Got my exhaust parts back from my dad/machinist. The 2.5" inlet on the Cone Engineering Quiet Core slips right over the mid-section that was cut from the old MAC canister slip-on. That mating will now provide the angle off the header's collector to get the reverse cone pointed straight back. Then a black paintjob for the midsection when I do the headers before spring. Test fitting and will fire her up this weekend!

Just rode it today, had to sort out a tach seal leak and test rode it for about 50 miles . Wow that big X pulls very hard . Red

got the engine out of the 450, finally after a year of it being broken down.

Question, I need to pull the 750 engine as well, but i do not have a center stand for it, how much of a hindrance is that going to be?

No center stand should be an issue since the easiest way to remove the 750 engine is to lay the bike on it's side and lift the frame off.

How much disassembly does that require? I'm trying to do as little as possible. Is it just all the bolts holding the engine in then place it down pop the last one out and lift it off? (obviously disconnect everything attached to the engine)

I just did this last weekend. Most of the bike needs to be stripped. Mine was just a roller. I put down a few layers of heavy cardboard on the lawn, and rolled the bike onto its right side. (I put on an old dented points cover so as to not bend the advancer shaft.)
I loosened most fasteners beforehand.
Once over, i removed the front forks and wheel, and then the rear wheel w the shocks and swingarm still attached. I was able to rock the motor back and forth, and prop it as needed to shimmy the frame off. would have been much easier with a neighbor, but they all ran inside when the saw what i was about to do

damn man I only need to do head work so I really wanted to avoid stripping down the whole bike. Gunna get my frame cut while the engine is out as well to avoid this in the future.

well, after the tank and seat, for convenience, you should remove the forks and rear wheel so its easier to maneuver the frame off, and with all that stuff still on it, you better have 2-3 buddies willing to hold it while you shift the engine...lighter is easier.

After several blockers, finally made time to work on the bike today. Mostly tore down stuff off the frame, steering, swingarm etc. so I can take the frame to a welder. Stuck on disassembling the swingarm as those pesky bushings refuse to move. The factory manual only says to inspect them while still in the swingarm. I know Hondaman's book talks about possible improvements here and I might have to sit down and read through that again.

The big bore is going in to the 750

gunna get one of those 836 kits while they're cheap. I feel like the 750 lends itself to power modifications more so than the 450.

When I built the "592" I used a copper head gasket. On the street I don't think this is a good choice as they always weep a tad. Used a surface plate to clean up the head/cylinder and installed an MLS gasket. I had Swaintech coat the HA piston skirts originally and they still look great, good product.

I have been breaking in my recently built 836, I made a bunch of changes along the way. Major change is that I am running a tracy body kit on there which took some tweaking

I learned today it is just a bit over 3.5 gal capacity after I had to push the thing about 2 miles, partly uphill. No sidewalks either because I was right near a parkway. At the top of the big hill I was really wishing I had bought a 200twin or something instead of a 750

I will get pics up of the bike with the body kit. It isn't the groovy, swoopy one, sorta F model looking one.
