Looked at mine longingly as I moved the snow blower up to the front of the garage.  >:(

That concept is so foreign to me... I'm drinking around 3 to 5 liters of water a day to try beat the humidity..... :o

It's an "other bike" but I had a tab welded on my XR Sportster today for mounting the fairing. Then I was done I rolled it next door to the owners race car shop to put it on an accurate set of scales. I was quite surprised to see what I thought was a 360lb  bike (weighed it 10 years ago at 360 before some substantial modifications since then) actually weighed in at 332lbs.

The 3 numbers are 111lbs front, 64lbs on the kickstand and 156lbs rear.

got a bolt out that iv'e been doing battle with for a couple of days. Finishing up trying to get everything on the 750 removed so the engine can get popped out.

Question, for the 836 kit does anything need to be modified? or is it just plug and play with the pistons?

Looking fantastic Steve, now get that sucker painted, that horrible paint scheme offends me so! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Your 836 question is open for a lot of debate. A lot depends on your intentions with it and how much you want to spend. Some porting would really wake it up. Maybe beef up the top end if your really going to run it hard. New rubber cam chain goodies would be nice. The list could get very long. Simple piston swap will work also for a little more oomph. Are you using one of the low compression cheap E-bay kits. If so make sure the rings fit nice on the piston grooves first and check the gaps. Heck enough stuff for a whole thread i'm sure from the folks..

Correct Ekpent. Depends on intent. How much work to be done otherwise. How much $$.

I've had an 836 with virtually no other changes. Nice difference to stock. Not enough difference to stress anything else.

836 with a pipe and head. Much nicer difference. Etc.

Well my intention is to make the 750 my "rider". The 450 just does not cut it on the interstate. It keeps up fine but an hour in and my whole body is numb and it gets really wound up, like 7000-8000 rpm cruising. Its going to go on out of state trips so I would like a little more oomph for interstate riding passing at high speeds etc (anyone who's been on i-75 FL or ATL knows what I mean.) and so I could keep the rev's down a little. Not trying to make it a works engine or anything. Just figured since the kits were cheap on ebay and I'm already gunna have the engine out, why not give it a go eh?
