This really should be in the open forum, but posting here for the larger audience. Most of have put away our bikes for the winter, but there are plenty of lucky ones still riding around. Doesn't matter if you've been riding for 30 days or 30 years, never hurts to review safety. Have some downtime? review these

you might be surprised.

After all, no one wants to end up on Dr. Alban's top ten, do they?

I missed 11 questions. . .I should take a class.

I too missed 11 questions..........I should take a few myself.
If it ain't raining, I'm riding.....~~{iii}?~~prost

If it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, it's because I cut and pasted from someone else.

Missed 8, not bad for not having taken the course. Still, I have been intending to take it for quite a while. I think I will add it to my agenda as soon as I have a road worthy bike.

Only need your own bike for the advance course I believe, at least here in Indiana.

I missed 8 and have never taken a course. Some of the questions that had abbreviations I guessed at because I didn't know what they stood for but got them right. One answer I don't agree with is the shift pattern. Not all bikes shift 1 down 4 up.

Yep, I argued that one as well, the Honda Passion 125cc shifts all up.

I've ridden bikes that have right side shifter (I know a lot of of us here have) patterns like all down 1up 3 down etc.

I rode a 125cc lambretta (heavily modified for farm riding and seriously fun 2 stroke for its time) that had gear change as the left hand grip.  Clutch leaver was normal as per modern bikes.

Today I'm going to check the oil pressure on my K1, paint a newly acquired front master cylinder and put it on and see if I can stop.

More work on my Yam FJ1200 so's I can get it back on the road soon. I had to do an oil change, so bought a screw on filter kit. When I opened the box I thought, "Geez, this looks like the one's I used to do for SOHC4's" and guess what? It goes straight on!

Here it is on my Yam:

When I was dropping the oil, I noticed what appeared to be a leak from my clutch cover that I'd repaired when I fell off on the day I bought it (flat tyres don't like corners, who'd have known?) without a gasket (one previous owner had a thing for clear silicon) so I decided to make a gasket, using a cereal box for the necessary gasket paper:

A little bit of trimming, and the best thing, is I didn't use any gasket goop, but still, no leaks!

Finally, nothing tells an old bike that you love it than treating it to new footpeg rubbers. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Cereal box gasket, WTF, Terry?!   Thought you were against those spin on oil filters since one failed on you? Does look good.

Ha ha, well when I was young we couldn't afford new gaskets, but cereal boxes were free, so we all learned to make our own gaskets Steve. Nowadays, if I went to my local Yamaha dealer and asked for a gasket for a 27 year old bike, the 20 year old counter jockey would probably just stare back blankly, and I would have wasted the trip. I did go online to see what a gasket was worth, and was horrified to see what people are charging for a piece of thick paper nowadays.

The only spin on filter that "failed" on me was one of those cheapy chrome ones that leaked like a sieve, but I've got faith in K&N though, they make good stuff. I don't know if I'd use that model filter on an SOHC4 though, it sticks out a fair way.

G'Day Larry, I chose the "Sultana Bran" box because I thought that being so high in fibre, it might absorb the oil better? Cheers, Terry. ;D

Yeah, my local Honda dealer has an idiot working the parts counter, was not helpful at all to me when I just wanted to buy spark plug caps.  I no longer go there.

Well I've become patient as I get older Steve, so rather than trudging from stealer to stealer, I just go online nowadays, and wait for them to arrive in the mail.

I ordered all the parts for my GL1000 conversion from US sellers on Christmas Eve and they've all arrived, and at a fraction of the cost of buying them (if they were available) from my local Honda dealer. Cheers, Terry. ;D

What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.

Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Installed my new front wheel/tire on my new fork tubes. Dropped my bike onto it's own wheels, first time in about 1 1/2 years, so now I have a "roller" again.

Very nice Georg, I've got a heap of K0 stuff coming so I can start putting mine together, I'm building it completely from parts that I've bought from members here or from eBay over a couple of years since I sold my last K0, so it'll be good when it's looking like a bike again! Cheers, Terry. ;D
