Yea, it's a lot of black but this is a 1977 CB750F. It had lots of black on it.
As for thickness, it all depends on how much powder you apply. You can just lightly dust them, then bake or keep applying the powder for a thick coating then bake. The black is a high gloss and does not need clear. It comes in many finishes, from high gloss all the way to flat to wrinkle. The "Reflective Chrome" requires the clear coat. Eastwood states that it is a two stage coating and is required. I wasn't very happy with the way it turned out. It was very "reflective" when applied and baked but when the clear was applied it "dulled" it down. Probably my fault. But reviews on there forum state that many have had the same problem.
