Gave Rustoleum Aircraft Remover + Loctite rust dissolver a spin. Definitely not suited to do indoors no matter how small the part, but blown away by the end result. Now if I could only get the frame this clean before painting. When will it stop snowing?

Completed the handle bar swap over to a much lower bar.  Replaced the brake hose, clutch cable, and throttle cables to shorter ones, so everything is very clean and tidy.   Very happy with the look and sportier riding position.

Here's a BEFORE and AFTER look:

It's Sunday afternoon here in Oz as I type this, but as sad as I am that I have to work tomorrow, I had a great weekend. I took my BMW K100RS in for a "Roadworthy Inspection" so I can get my club "Red Plate", and it flew thru the inspection with no issues. The tester let me borrow his "Trade Plate" for the weekend, so I took the BM for a decent ride up to Kinglake, and had a pint of Bulmers cider and a bite to eat.

Today I decided to fire my old Yamaha FJ1200 up and take it for a ride too. Sadly I've neglected it recently, so it's battery was struggling a tad, and when it fired up it was only running on #1 and 4. Poop. I removed the tank and cleaned #2 and 3 plugs, and it ran on all 4. I replaced the tank and sidecovers etc, (after replacing the fuel line, it was in a shat state) and it'd run on all fours, then miss and fart, like it couldn't decide whether it wanted to be a 900cc three, or a 1200cc four.

There was nothing for it but to take it for a ride and hope that I could blow the cobwebs out. For the first 15 or so miles to Kalkallo it was fairly awful, but after I filled it with fresh fuel and took it up my "special road" and gave it the berries it suddenly caught on all 4, and took off like a rocket! Fcuk me, before I knew it, it was doing 230 KPH (143 MPH) and was still pulling, before my underpants begged me to slow down!

I rode it up to Kinglake for lunch, but the Harley boys had taken over the Kinglake pub, so I had a pie and a coffee at the bakery instead. All up I did over 100 miles on each bike, and it was a great opportunity to compare one bike to the other. Sadly, as much as the BMW is probably the prettier of the two, the Yamaha's 130 BHP grunt factory of an engine wins hands down. Cheers, Terry.

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

As a man of my word I have pictures!!!! A small note on the vin picture. You can see the vin has a rectangle around it. I had the powder coating shop lay down two coats on the frame. But I knew the vin would be buried so I asked him to cover it after the first coat and before the second. Came out better than I thought!!

Got back from Boston last night, most of the snow was gone from the lawn, roads were dry and clear.  Got up this morning to 2 1/2" of wet, heavy snow.  Forget global warming, welcome to the next ice age. :(

Worked on getting the K4's front end back on after a bearing/springs/seals upgrade.
Then took the 550 out for a nice little ride on a glorious day!

Spent an hour Friday evening cleaning the bike for the Annual No. Ga. Motorcycle Show and Swap meet. I wanted to load Fri. night so I could get an early start on Sat. No sooner do I have it loaded in the truck that it starts raining. Well after one night in the rain I now know which hardware needs replacing with stainless hardware. Got to the show and started the cleaning process again. It paid off as I won 1st. place in the "Best Classic" division.

I used the little stick on numbers as I took things apart, and made a list of what each connection did.  Makes it a lot easier to put back together, and trouble shot when something doesn't work.

I wonder that too. Uncharacteristic execution from the usually fastidious Japanese manufacturers.

Cleaned up a few electrical components, will take my time later with the starter solenoid. Sanded down sprocket carrier and breather cover with 500 grit.
