Did the electric @ the K2 and put a hand full of new screws at the K1.

I went out to the shed, gazed longingly at my bike, then wiped a tear off my cheek and came back inside.

I bought some new handlebars off Bike Bandit for the project. A little spendy, I'd meant to buy suspension parts when I next opened the purse, or finish rounding up seat and fender parts, but it was still on the list, so it counts! : )

Thanks, folks, for the tip of using the alligator clipped light for a "fuse". Popped it on the fuse holder, and ran through my switches... turns out it was my blinkers.

Lesson of the day: ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK YOUR WIRING. Especially when your blinkers come with no instructions and you go off your "intuition". It resulted in a popped fuse or three, a busted electronic flasher unit, and a burnt out bulb after my unsteady hands were testing the bulb's leads. Luckily I kept the original flasher to continue testing. Today will bring a new bulb and electronic flasher.

Once I had everything checked and wired properly, I was able to button up the headlight bucket, and everything works peachy! Also on there are reinforced rubber washers as mentioned, too. This is going to be a great setup. Now just to tidy up some of that excess wiring, a new brake hose from Slingshot, and front end should be good to go.

Another lesson of the day... Apparently my bike is a SERIOUS basket case. Switches are not K5 (Br/W is not on both switches) but the switches are all where they should be, and the main harness is not K5 either. There are TWO Br/W lines coming to the bucket from the main harness, among other things. Thankfully PO had labelled everything, and it all works just fine.

Recovered this 550 seat. The PO just used duct tape to repair it.

Stripped 'er down...

New cover and trim back on...

I've recovered other seats but this is the first that I am truly happy with. Bought the cover on ebay for $48 shipped.
Nothin' like a nice seat!

Thanks, and yes, he makes them for 750's as well.  Looks like prices have gone up slightly to $53 shipped.
They are made to order, but still took less than a week.

OT7,
That Scorpion battery you installed was the equivalent to Yuasa# YB12A-A ? if I may be so bold, what did you end up paying? and how long of a warranty do they come with ?

 :)  Equivalent to Yuasa #YB12A-A.
Cost $59 free shipping , 1 year warranty.
Third season with AGM battery voltage checks ok.
Tired of messing with flooded cell battery.
AGM is the way to go.

OK OT7  :),
I've been looking at this other brand Motobatt and they have a 2 year warranty but the price is $81 shipped and that's a few more tanks of gas for me. You're happy w/ that Scorpion ? When you say "third season", is that with this particular YB12A-A? What's the Scorpion model# for it ? I want to do some more research. That YB12A-A size is one of the most common size batteries for Vintage cycles for many years now.
                                                                                         Thanks, Bill
