Wife and I love the 3XW FJ, it's a 95 model, we've ridden it to VJMC rallies in QLD, Great Ocean Road and out west NSW, etc., BTW what's good for cleaning off millions of bugs after riding by all those canola crops you've got down there? Those bugs pissed me off, oops, wrong thread. Anyway, it never misses a beat. It's my second FJ, the first was an 88. I'm a bit slack when it comes to maintaining batteries as we like to go away on holidays a couple of times a year for 3 or 4 weeks at a time and I don't bother to leave it on a charger. As well as the FJ (on full reg) I've got 4  bikes on club plates. I'm gradually swapping them all to Motobats. I'll check out the Optimates.
The S600 belongs to a mate, he's a young bloke but he's probably the best bike and car restorer I know (I've been a VJMC concours judge in the past).

G'Day Krusty, nice vehicles mate. I use Supercheap's "Truckwash", I just mix a little bit with water in a spray bottle, spray it on and leave it for 10 minutes to soften up the bug splat, then hose it off.

The only thing wrong with it is that  if you've used any Armor All on it, you'll have to do it again afterwards, it leaves old plastics etc looking a bit dull. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I noticed the bell crank wasn't lined up with the throttle cable very well and in trying to loosen a bolt on the carb plate I managed to break off the head of said bolt. Now I am looking at buying I good used mounting plate. Considering this is an all original 7,000 mile K5 that's never been apart I should of taken the approach that some things are better left alone.

Why, cracked?

Are there any differences from K0 - K6 within the German back lights?

Started stocking up on a few summer goodies. Honda'a like a fresh battery. Only problem with more than one bike is you have to buy in bulk. Not quarts of oil but gallons and not a few plugs but boxes. Its fun though.
Started up the old everyday rider today also, She acted a little snotty after sitting for this nice pleasant winter  ::)  with that good fuel left in her carbs but after a little coaxing belched to life with her usual roar, 4 pipes burning hot and ready to go.
What the Hell is that Harley doing in the shop   ::)

got curious while I was working on the Saab so i popped open the tappet covers and noticed a little rust on the intake valves. Confirms what I thought about water getting in the PO's pod filters. I put some oil in over the tappets, down the intakes, in the exhaust tappets and down the plug holes and then rotated the thing a few degrees. still moves freely, hopefully the inside will be in good-enough shape when I get the the engine part of the build.

Long list today: picked up newly polished & ported head from machine shop - I had some bent valves replaced so I figured "why not?" Buttoned the 500k engine back together with all new gaskets, 650 cam, 750 carbs, and dyna ignition...after a long winter and some rebuilding mistakes, Iwas finally able to fire up my ol' girl. Tomorrow I finish some wiring and synch the carbs. SO HAPPY TONIGHT!
