In theory the longer soak is supposed to allow the cork to really soak it up. It isn't exactly scientific, most people do have a night to spare for a clutch plate swap tho.

When I did my rebuild last year, the fork boots seemed in good shape, so I reused the old ones........ last week one split in two, so time for some new boots!

While ordering parts, might as well fill in the hole in the fender (plug, cone  90899-283-000) ;D

Damn Jerry, your K2 looks awesome. The more I look at yours, and KC's K2 that he rebuilt as a K1, the more I'm convinced to  go with the candy gold, which is my least fav of all CB750 colors. I've committed enough "restoration sins" that I ALMOST don't feel bad going with either the Candy Ruby Red or the Silver body kit, but it'd be a shame not to have it look "correct" after all the work. Maybe I should start a poll  :-\

Did some more tinkering with my new bike, found some issues. Debating if I should work on my own bike or not. New plugs that's all.

Took The CB500 Patina bike out for a spin on a beautiful Sunday morning.
Went to explore a new residential development that has started near my home, found some great twisty roads and new, smooth asphalt.

No traffic or speed limit signs yet!

The 500 is running great and I've enjoyed riding it...

Sheeeesh, didn't realize it was gonna be such a pain in the arse.

Nice looking bike Stev-o....wish I had a 550.

Nice finish. At least now with that hard work you can enjoy looking at that piece everytime you get on your bike.

That's a fact, and no way I could paint over it either. Took 43 years to get that "patina"...

Stev-o,
Do you think you'll restore some of the chrome on 'the patina bike CB500' over the course of time ?

No, fairly priced.  It is the buyers first real bike [had a scooter] and he likes the Patina too, so he's not going to hack it up.  Has a HOT girlfriend too! Everyone's happy.

Yeah, I like em too. I was a little gun shy with that clutch system, it clearly is not as good as the 550. Would be no prob if ridden conservatively, but what fun is that?!

He actually brought his girlfriend to look at/buy a new bike? Either she's really cool or he's whipped!!

Took my front wheel off so I can send my caliper and rotor to Godffrey's. Come to find out I was missing two screws that are supposed to hold the caliper on. Good thing I haven't taken it out since I purchased the bike.
