Well, not a SOHC4 but this is something all these bikes probably need.

I knew this round-tuit  was going to be a roadside jerry rig in the dark if I didn't do something, and these old Honda fuse holders are just not state of the art anyway.

Found this mini blade fuse  holder at Autozone. They had the larger one for the same price, but I decided red was better than yellow for some reason. It sort of fits in the old holder on the frame and a spare fuse tucks into the cap, too.

I have this hanging fuse in my bike too, 3 of them connected direct to battery.  Feeding headlight, ignition and horn via relays. Very cheap at a local car part shop.

- Replaced the H4 headlight bulb.
Old (must be crap from China) had strange short circuit inside causing NO light. But blue pilot for HI lit constantly when either HI or LO should work.
- Got package from US eBay. Cam tower set with cam and sprocket from a low mile bike. K7-78

- Maybe return to garage and adjust carb needles.....The sofa, TV is comfortable with laptop and this forum

Hey Scott, is the '83 rear MC the same as on my '86? If so, I'll have a spare one shortly, I bought a complete rear brake system for mine because my rear caliper is stuffed. Because it was hidden behind the pannier it never got any love and the slide pins seized, so I did an ebay search and got the complete setup for 20 bucks. If you want the MC, you can have it for shipping. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I'll have to do some research into that Terry so I'll keep it in mind. What I've found is that Honda for the most part left our beloved 750's alone other than subtle changes here and there, not so with the GL's. It seems Honda was always screwing with them in some way or another making some years of GL's unique when it comes to parts interchangeability. I don't think it would take all that much work to make your 86 MC work on mine, I just have to figure out what. In the meantime thanks a bunch for the offer.

No worries Scott, I know that the MC on my 'Wang is good, so I don't need the one that's coming with the caliper that I do need, so it's yours if you need it. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Went out and hit some garage sales Friday morning and found this 1980 Kawasaki 750. Runs with title, has 22,000 miles and bought it for a very very reasonable price. Owner said the back wheel locked up on him this summer when he would shut down the throttle and bought new wheel bearings to install because someone said so. Look at my close up picture and see if you can maybe figure out what the problem is  ;)   ::)
Worked on my V65 carbs  and are ready to install when I go pick up the new rubber manifolds. My local dealer beat Ebay's prices big time at $7.60 each with no shipping fees. Hoping to get my first ride on it soon.

Geez Eric, for 22,000 miles, that rear sprocket is unbelievably stuffed! The chain must have been just about hanging on the ground for that sort of damage to occur? I see it all the time, guys riding around on big sports bikes with the chain way too loose and I wonder why they don't realise? Amazing! Anyway, good looking bike mate, put it in the container with the other ones in preparation for your retirement! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Finally getting around to mounting the electric's that I moved under the seat on my Cafe. Also, hooking up the new wiring harness, and mounting the new Accel coils. Getting really close to starting this thing for the first time. Finally. My real job has kept me busy this year.

Saw the same thing except clear plastic instead of black for double the price at another store. It is worth shopping a bit.

Made a $4 investment in a winker circuit breaker- tired of wearing out my thumb making the things blink.  The  only problem is there is a lag time before the new one comes on. Maybe reversing the polarity of the installation will help?

Parked it in the garage until I figure out why it suddenly went from running good to not wanting to idle and popping through one carb.   >:(  At least the BSA is still running good so I can ride.  And leave oil spots wherever I park.  ::)

The new flashers have the lag, the older original style ones don't. Don't remember why but switching polarity won't do it, it is how it is setup. This came up a while ago as to why some members on here prefer the older thermo flasher

Still waiting on parts from David Silver for the K2.
Stripped the bearings out of the TS250X and cleaned up the hub, and made ready for new bearings, shoes and grease.

Did as directed here on the forum and removed both rear wheel bearing retainers.
Drill out stake points with 1/8 inch drill bit, about 3/16 of an inch deep.
Drill slow, and use WD 40. Piece of cake, both came out easily, and undamaged.
Will re use upon re assembly. 8) CB 750 K5

( I hope this is allowed moderator).

Not so much what I did today - but what I will be doing on 28 September.

Once again, I am in the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride - here in Melbourne.

Last year the ride raised over a quarter of a million dollars globally - all going towards sore bum (prostate cancer) research.

My fundraising target is $2,000, if you want to help me reach it then please go to the link below.

http://www.gentlemansride.com/rider/maduncle

In a rare moment of sobriety, I have offered to laminate my motorcycle in a good Harris tweed cloth if I reach $1,000 - I wonder what glue I could use that allows me to peel the tweed off the tank, fender, side panels and tail after the ride?

Contact adhesive will stick that stuff on great Cliff, spray some on your seat and footpegs too, it'll stop you sliding back under accelleration. ;D

Ya never know Eric. Charlie went to an estate sale and bought a "yard cart that was missing a wheel" for dirt cheap.  Turned out to be a 1920's Indian sidecar/cargo box!

Finalized carb job this afternoon.
Needles back to middle slot after testing higher needles, (1 vs 2 (bottom) slots lower).
Both caused too rich idle ??? Mikuni VM29 are a little bit different ::)  Main jets caused rich all the way down in throttle lift ;)

Idle runs rather smooth again..Let's see how engine will work on the road. Hopefully no pinging and full power without hesitation up to +200km/h according to the speedometer as back in the days.
Smaller pilots (17.5 from 20) due to larger mains (135 from 130) and retarded ignition since last time pinging.

End of 80's with K6 OEM carbs: pilots 40, needles 1 slot down from middle (raised needles), mains 147.5 (lots of tasty leaded gasoline  :P )

Needles are really easy to adjust on these Mikuni VM 29 carbs. Remove tank, open 4 top covers with 3 screws, remove all 5 hex screws 8mm socket keeping 4 throttle arms to throttle axis and the throttle linkage (pull, puch cabling move this).
Remove the outer end rubbers on 1 and 4 carbs, push the throttle axis out. Keep a thin screwdriver in outer hole so the axis can be back in the same way without turning it 180 degrees.

Now take out each throttle, untighten 2 small screws keeping the throttle in the linkage arm, throttle is free, take out small plug over needle, let the needle fall out and adjust the clip without dropping it.... then reverse back. I have done this 3 times now with carbs mounted on engine. Max 1 hour.

All rejetting done without removing the carbs and damage the carb boots. I have replaced the X-heads with allen headed screws from the very beginning 30 years ago. Rejetting with carbs on engine not possible with original X-heads.
I must have removed the float bowls fastened with 4x4 screws minimum 20 times the last 10 months. I hope the threads for pilot and needle jet especially will cope for some more exercises.

Cleaned idle jets and took it for a spin only to find out it pours gas out of the T connection. Yenked carbs, replaced o rings, replaced air filter while I was there. My youngest daughter helped, she has clever little monkey hands for tight spaces.

Wanted to take her for a ride but she went to play piano instead. Girls, I tell you :)
