Lesson #1.
Uncle Terry always wins. The sooner you poofters ( or whatever the Aussie word is) learn that....the better.

That's true Joe, lots of poofters out there, thinking that their youth and exuberance will win out against experience and cunning.......... ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

So finally Terry I have something you don't. A K1 with the original rego number!! Took a while but I got ya!  ;D

How do you know for sure Adam? Do you have the original sales slip with the rego number on it? That's the problem, it could have been re-registered any time in the 1970's and you'd still have a 1970's era plate? Unless you've got the original purchase documents, you'll never really know. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Actually I do know. I'm the second owner as my Uncle bought it new in Ipswich. When I restored the bike, the plates were shot so I kept the original number and purchased personalised plates. Must be that hard training in you Terry, don't want to give an inch. Hopefully I'll be in Vic in a few years and we can catch up and tell lies....I mean share stories. ;)

Anyway, after my ride on Thursday, I'm still stoked that the clutch plates didn't stick!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Painted and baked the caliper, rotor, brake line T-joint, vinyl dyed the kill switch, polished the caliper hanger and fork bottom bits.

If you said all that to anyone NOT into bikes - they would lock you up.

Yep, I trade it with Stev-o, needed a shifter drum after I destroyed mine  :o Nick hooked me up with the correct one, and Marc powder coated it for me

Removed the starter clutch from the 77 550 I'm parting with to replace the busted one in my 75 550. Thanks to Dave 500 and XSmooth for documentation of the process.

Yesterday and before...
I got my swingarm back from Mark (Hondaman), he managed to save the pore, harried bolt, drill it an oil passage, and put the new bushings in the swingarm! An awesome job!

I received my frame kit from Gordon, amazing work and awesome instructions, in face he's just updated the instructions for the latest round of kits and even emailed those of us the update.

Outstanding service and quality both!

Until now I haven't hardly worked on the bike most of the summer because of the heat in the garage, weddings, visits with family and other social obligations, and work. I work for a supermarket chain here in New England, not Market Basket, but their troubles sent our sales through the roof for almost 6 weeks while they sorted things out. So there were quite a few 6 day work weeks at stretches of 9 and 10 days in a row. Great for overtime, bad for restoring a bike!  ;D Glad to see them back to work for them AND us!

Anyway, things are back to normal and I finally got my hands on the last of the black painted parts I wanted to wire-wheel in prep for PC. Last night I also started making my cuts for the frame kit after careful layout. By the weekend I want to have that frame kit ready for welding. I may or may not do a little frame bracing too. I don't need to, it's not going to be a track bike, but, there will never be a better time than now since the frame is stripped bare and I've got all the tools out. And I would like to ride two up or loaded for trips and... spirited solo riding.  :D

When all that is done it will be time to find myself a powder coater around here. Woo!

40 minutes to an hour depending. Post their info, I'll check them out, and I'm sure others in the area would be keen to know as well.  :D

Fiddled with my new to me 75 Kaw Z1B that I bought Sunday. Owner lost the key around 10 years ago when the bike went for service and the servicer went to jail then prison and died. Interesting story for a later time. Still had new plugs and oil and my longtime dealership here in town dug deep and found me a pair of original keys that fit my locks. Said I should play the Lotto on the way out  :)  Hooked her up to the 'bottle' and it fired right up dirty carbs and all after 10+ years. Next the carbs are coming off for a good clean and other maintenance servicing will be done and think she is going to be living a good new life here in the near future.
Glad to see my local friend and LEGEND here seanbarney stop down for a visit on his 750 and have an adult cocktail or two and enjoyed showing him the sights in this humble little area around the shop  ;)    ;D

Engine done, carbs next!

Going to build a rig and "bench test".

Any tips for the best way to do this?

Have stand for engine already, going to add one for oil tank and coils.

Have remote tank, switch for battery, will kick over via starter lead.

Am I missing anything? Can't wait to have it running...
