I sold my Yamaha XJR1300SP today - which means I currently only have TWO BIKES!

At least they are both Honda CB's.

What? Why? Geez, I didn't even get to bum a ride on that big Yam Cliff, I'm gutted............... ;D

Whoops - sorry Terry, I didn't know you wanted to try it out otherwise I would have loaned it to you for a few days.

Basically I found it to be too big for urban commuting and I needed the cash. So now I am close to having the 500/4 on the road - just need to get a new brake bleeder for the front calliper, muffler mounted and wiring done.

Cupla weeks!

Ha ha, no worries Cliff, if I wasn't so lazy I'd install my FJ1200's front fender (to replace the one that fell off) and take it for a ride. Have you seen this "bargain" yet? I was the high bidder, but chickened out when I was outbid. Too many projects in the Tardis now, but I would like another Waterbottle one day............. ;D

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Suzuki-GT-750-WATER-BOTTLE-Barn-find-needs-full-Resto/161531962087?_trksid=p5411.c100167.m2940&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140131123730%26meid%3D0128cb45acfa4a389e30972ef34db521%26pid%3D100167%26prg%3D20140131123730%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D171610678599&autorefresh=true
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

That one could have been a major money pit Terry, some parts are pretty pricey nowadays as I am sure you know + you want an earlier one anyways.

As rusty and crusty as that water bottle was, you would have probably gotten sick if you had taken a drink out of it anyway.
Wait for a more sterile water bottle to come along.

Here was one of my GT750's when I brought it home, carbs etc in a box,we nicknamed it "Dirty Bertha". I bought that in the morning than went down to the Indiana border and picked up this GT550 in the afternoon. Both were very inexpensive and made for a very fun and good winter day  ;)  550 came with stock pipes also.

Puck you

Did you put any sealant on them to prevent future leaks?
A tiny smear of non hardening sealant like hondabond, threebond or permatex non hardener will mean no leaks for thousands and thousands of miles

Long story on the front brakes Eric but they are on. Bought 4 other 750's in the last year or so, the teal 72 has been started and the other blue 73 is on my lift now for some winter fiddling. Only showing 6300 miles but is another "Dirty Bertha."

SWEET! I LOVE the teal color. We, of course, did not get those paint schemes in the U.S.A.

As a matter of fact, I like that color so much that I purchased the tank and tail piece from the one year/one model only '77 750
to use on my '79 750 which now, of course, has a nicely modified 1115cc engine it it currently among other bits.  8)

I have a GS1000 that I bought late this fall that I have only rode twice so far and really liked the feel. May have an issue though that I think I may PM you on if needed in the near future since it looks like you may be a Suzuki Guru.  Other Eric

Who? Me? Never! LMAO!!!
The front end comes up at 6,000 like it or not. So you best be leaning over the gauges when it does.  ;)

You got the 1100 wheels on it ..?  I remember my first ride on a GS750 around 1980, I was amazed at how refined it was... ;) It didn't have an 1100 hidden in it though.... ;D ;)

Making the 1150E rotors work was a trick in its self. .370/.370 cams, Andrews coils, 10.50:1 pistons, 41 mm forks from an '83 GK model (to replace the stock 35mm ones), '83 1100E aluminum swing arm, '84 1150E 36mm carbs, etc., blah, blah blah.
I use that bike as my test bed for all of the things that "you can't do" with these bikes as well as some easier ones. You probably can't make out the '93 GSX1100G foot rests that "don't fit/ can't work" also.  ;) Three decades of parts from 9 different models.
Header is V & H, muffler is Kerker.(< with my baffle inside) Third set of gauges as the first one quite at 121,000 miles, broke the second one when I hit past 145 on the speedo in fourth gear at 7,500rpm. (140 speedo. whoops!)
I have had that one for over 35 years, with six different engines (750, 850, 1000, 1085, 1100 and 1115) and over 170,000 miles.
The 1100 was only replaced because it started to leak a bit of oil after every ride at about 85,000 miles. I got tired of spraying it and wiping it off.
Not a drop of oil had ever hit the ground or even the frame. The others were only replaced because I could.  ;D
The same cams, HD valve springs and coils have been in it since it was first turned into an 850 when it had 5,000 miles on it. (because I could)

Started the K1 for the first time in months and #1 cylinder didn't fire. A little bit of fault finding and it appears to be the spark plug. Off to find another one tomorrow. Great way to start the New Year.
