Thanks! And indeed, its the original Ford's Mustang GT Race Red. Not the porting, not the cam, this color is the key to winning 1/4 miles  :P

Well the weather was supposed to be miserable this weekend with 3 months rain in 3 days, according to the weather forecast, which only supports my theory that higher education is time well wasted. It was a magnificent sunny day, 27 deg C (80 deg F in the forgotten language of the ancient druids) and clear skies.

I ignored my twin turbo Subaru project as the engine needs new head gaskets, so instead, I decided to replace the fuel pump on my magnificent big black 'Wang. Sadly the OEM item had let me down once too often, so I bought a "direct replacement" item on eBay, which only took around 5 hours to install.

The first problem was that the fuel barbs on the new pump have an OD of 9.5mm, as opposed to 6.5mm for the OEM pump. I made a couple of "adaptors" on my lathe to suit.

Next problem was the wiring for the new pump. The new pump came with the same plug as the OEM pump, but the wiring harness was around 6 inches too short, so I made one out of the two, with some repro OEM bullet connectors.

Eventually it was all back together, but I then had to "bleed" the fuel lines of air before I could get the big bugger to fire into life. Eventually I pulled two plugs to see if I had any spark, and as soon as I did, the engine started and ran happily on the opposite two cylinders. No biggie, as soon as I installed the other two plugs, it ran like a top, and the new pump doesn't look out of place in the OEM position.

Feeling rather pleased with myself, I took a random pic and poured myself a celebratory drink. Sadly the afore-mentioned Subaru is blocking my driveway so I wasn't able to ride the 'Wang today, but hopefully next Sunday will be it's big test before the annual pilgrimage to the Phillip Island Classic. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I fixed the final electrical gremlin on my 500/4 - the front brake light switch. Turned out to be a dodgy wire to the rear brake so I tidied that up and completed all my wiring.

Only thing left to do is get the muffler fitted and I am on the road.

Side topic:

The rules change here on 31st January. All club permit vehicles will need a full road worthy certificate from that date (rather than just a club inspection) so VicRoads will be very busy next couple of weeks with a flurry of club permit applications.

Excellent news Cliff, some of our "custom" brethren were building dangerous POS' and getting away with it, so that new law is a sensible approach, and should keep everyone honest. All my bikes had to pass a roadworthy inspection, and I always thought club inspections were not worth the paper they're written on. So does VICROADS, apparently. Cheers, Terry. :)

Continued with fabricating a new seat pan for the F2, had all the bits sorted ready to weld up and the missus came in and saw it and gave me a hard time for building a solo seat. Now I've got to rethink the tail end so she can fit her backside on it. No worries, when we're both wearing helmets and flat out on the motorway I can't hear her nagging so I don't really mind ;D

Agree Terry - I don't feel like I have built a good bike unless it passes a Victorian Roadworthy inspection, that's my litmus test.

Kept seeing a lot of those crapsicles on fleabay and wondered how they were getting away with it.

I know this is the wrong thread Krusty, but what pissed me off awhile ago was reading a series of articles in "Australian Motorcycle Trader" by a "new to bikes" young journo who turned a nice BMW R80 into a Cafe Racer.

Now I don't dislike a quality custom, but his bike was clearly unroadworthy (in Victoria) with no front or rear fenders fitted, but it was still wearing a shiny new club plate. Obviously it hadn't passed a Victorian Roadworthy inspection.

The trouble with irresponsible turkeys like him is that not only do they ride around on illegal crapsicles, they promote irresponsible behavior and ruin an otherwise really good deal like the current club plate scheme by turning it into a farce. Before long some politician will realise that the club plate scheme is actually losing the state government revenue, and they'll cancel it.

Another question I have is how some of these bikes would be treated by insurance companies in the event of a crash. If some of the "mods" (those stupid square edged Coker tyres, for instance) contributed to a crash, would the insurance company honor a claim?

Agree Terry - I don't feel like I have built a good bike unless it passes a Victorian Roadworthy inspection, that's my litmus test.

That's right Cliff, it's just a pity that a Victorian Roadworthy Inspection costs so much nowadays, they've gone up around 100 bucks in the last couple of years, which sucks, but I can't see them going down anytime soon. ;D

Vic Roads have also closed a loophole.  A motorcycle manufactured after 30 June 1975 that does not have an Australian registration history (e.g. an import without an Australian compliance plate) MUST have a VASS certificate (engineers certificate). Previously, they only applied this rule to full registration.  I highlighted this anomoly to Vic Roads after dealing with an a**hole in my club...

Picked up my KO head and cylinders from the shop. Had to trim .008 of the cylinders to make it flat. I will be installing rods on the crank tomorrow and finishing up the bottom end. Then on to fitting some F2 pistons in this K0. Hope to have the engine done in a couple of weeks.

My everyday rider 750 went in for surgery yesterday to replace the extremely notchy steering bearings with rollers. Needed new fork boots as one was ripped and guess I'll do some fork seals also while its apart.

Took my seat pan to the upholstery shop, took my powder coater the last two small pieces I need done, and made an appointment at the body shop to get my seat/tank painted in a couple weeks. This past week I have installed my new Tarrozi rear sets, installed new speedo/tach gauges, front turn signals, and have done most of the wiring(new harness). Added a rear lite module, so I can run the turn signals as brake lights, and running lights, too. Wired in the voltage regulator/rectifier combo, the Hondaman transistor ignition box, and all the headlight wiring except front signals. I plan on putting the bike in a local bike show next month, so am pushing to get finished.

I have a block of wood that goes in between the pipes and rests on the bottom of the engine and oil filter mount.  Enjoy your ride, be quite awhile around here, here's hoping warmer weather is headed your way !!

Going to be doing the same thing in a month or so...but in a non-heated shed. And I'm in the north east. Could be worse I guess; I could not have a bike to work on at all!
