I'll have a look around next time that I am in a Lowes store. Thanks!

The new owner is changing the handlebar which is actually quite comfortable when laid back from that position.
Today was refresh a pair of 30 year old shocks day. During and after pic's...

Three hours of wire wheel, steel wool and polish to finish a pair. Whoopee!

Eric

Looking good Eric, it's just a pity that you can't change the 30 year old oil and seals in those things. Funnily enough though, when I bought my GS1000S (no need to re-jet for a 4 into 1 pipe, BTW, unless you're also ditching the airbox, which I'd advise against) I removed those shocks and replaced them with new Koni's (just before Koni stopped making their bike shocks) thinking that they would make a real difference, and they didn't, so that was a waste of 500 bucks. I kept the old OEM shocks and put them on my last GS1000E to replace the rusty originals, and they're still on the bike now, I believe. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

Today I repacked the modified baffle for the 4-into-1 pipe, tapped the holes where the rivets were and installed SS Allan bolts.
I also installed a drive chain and the new owner took it down the road for a test ride. He asked if he could bring over his neighbor
and I said yes if he is crazy like you and I. Well, his neighbor ended up being my old Aussie mate that I used to work with almost
twenty years ago and had been calling strangers in NSW trying to find him! He is back in the states and we will be getting together
again real soon!!!   :D   :D   :D
I forgot to take a pic or two of the almost completed bike but will try to remember to tomorrow.

Cleaned the sludge from the oil pickup and oil pan.

Bike sat too long and the oil turned to soap
Found a nylon washer and rubber o-ring too! ;D

Sorry to say - my oil pan probably had more aluminum flakes in it than a can of aluminum spray paint. :'(

When I busted that camchain a long while back it ate the return guide and it all ended up in the oil filter and the pan.  Oil pickup stayed clean though.  I'd post a pic, but I don't have an image server anymore.

Got my gas tank/seat back from the bodyshop yesterday. New paint looks awesome. Nearly done with the wiring harness, should be able to start motor soon.

I bought another bike today.

It is a Honda.

It is a four cylinder.

It is 500cc.

But the 1985 engine is in a V configuration.

It seems I suffer from a peculiar type of OCD that requires me to own one of every 500cc Honda engine configuration.

So far I have three ...

Correct - got myself a VF500. Only done 17,000km but the engine has seized so there is a bit of work to do one day. And I do plan to restore it to the red, white and blue.

After the CB450 race bike is finished.

And after the CB500/4 rebirth...

(I am just quietly picking them up and storing them away for future fun).

Went to Pep Boys to get H4 bulb for my project, but they were all out.

Stopped at Honda and payed $7 for bulb with Honda label and Made in Hungary. We shall see how good it is, the price is great.

You can get many varieties of them at Amazon.com including the 80/100, 90/100 and 100/130 watt varieties.
"off-road" use only of course.  ;) Aim them CORRECTLY and not only will you never blind anyone or get noticed but

Eric, what would you say is the highest wattage suggested with a stock (and well running) system? I'm currently at 55/60 with a hondaman relay.

80/100 is a nice safe upgrade for most bikes. I get at least a half mile of coverage with the 130 hi-beam on a couple of my bikes which
seems to be even better than some of my cars with the same bulbs. I am sure that it really puts the charging system to the limit or beyond.
80/100 is a good mid ground choice IMHO.
Hella and a couple of new comers make great bulbs. Sylvania Silverstar Ultra is another good choice that is for on-road use.(officially)
Safer is a good thing on two wheels.  ;)

Eric

P.S.: I have a couple of the Ebay LED conversions with built-in fans that I have yet to try. They might be another good choice. I don't know yet.

Went from Pic 1 to pic 2...

Partially installed the rebuilt engine.
Installed replacement seat nose keeper (rear tank mount)
Cleaned and greased the swingarm pivot.
Cleaned and greased the full floating linkages.
Replaced some of the crappy connectors with new ones from the Cycle Terminal.

Getting close..... 8-)

Did a 150 mile oil change on my K2's freshly rebuilt engine.

After dropping the bike while moving it last week... >:(...installed new Biltwell Thruster grips to replace one that got damaged. Super comfy. Fortunately, that was the extent of the damage. Really don't know how I got away with that. Polished/cleaned the front forks a bit more, but will probably just need to repaint them to get rid of the rest of the spots.

Also switched from Silkolene to Bel-Ray mineral oil with some ZDDP.

Fitted new Motobat battery to the little 350F then gave it a well deserved wash. It hasn't been for a run for almost a year but still started up just fine with the little bit of fuel still in it. Decided to take on VJMC run to harry's cafe d'Wheels. Perfect afternoon for a ride.
Not a big roll up today.

Cleaned out some carbs that had been sitting for the past four months while I was out of commission with the broken hip and
changed out the pilot jets and well plugs. She was running yesterday just not quite up to par. Might even take her out to Bike Night today!  :D

Took delivery of this beaut. Thanks to rb for posting it.

All original '76 550F, has 16K miles, came w/title, not stuck even though it sat for over 20 years in a garage in New Yawk. The tank is toast.

The headers are in very good cond, I have always loved the swooping pipes on the 550F...

I am excited to start a restore on this but it will have to want.  I have the K7 in the garage to finish and the Kaw H1 that is in the middle of a motor rebuild.
