Unfortunately, I don't have any video or pics of the event itself. Just some aftermath pics.

The TS has been running for a week now, but it needed a little fettling to get it finished. Today I tweaked the air screw and checked the charging/battery circuits, then tested the temp meter. The temp meter isn't working.  :( so why not have a *very* short test run. My front lawn is dead because of the lack of rain and I have a fundamental aversion to watering grass. It was just a short 1st/2nd squirt. I found another problem -
THE FRONT END WON'T STAY ON THE GROUND!

Nothing, absolutely nothing.  The rain god returned today, making up for all that rain we didn't get this winter.  Just don't feel like taking a ride on a naked bike nursing a huge head cold.

Did some cleaning prep today...

Cleaned most of the carbon off the pistons. Cleaned most of the old oil off the cylinders and head. Also removed the dowel pins and rubbers on the studs.

Also found out just why the PO had to ram the rocker shaft into the tower... IT WAS BENT!!! It was out about 0.020" at one end from the center. Maybe from when it was drilled/tapped? Who knows. The whole thing needs replacing, regardless. I have a lead on a set... just waiting now...

Here's the combustion chambers all cleaned up (1-4):

Put some spark plugs in last night and filled the chambers with WD-40. No leakage!

Got the engine back in the frame, oil pump and pan back on as well as filter and I'm calling it a night. I could've gotten a lot more done today but had to wait till 5:30 pm for my youngest son to show up and help me get the engine back in the frame, I needed his help because my back wont let me do it myself besides my wife and I took the opportunity to take the GL out for our first ride this spring. Depending on how quickly I can get motivated tomorrow I should have the 750 fired up by lunch time.

What did you do to your bike today ?
« Reply #19445 on: March 15, 2015, 11:51:26 AM »
Mikuni TMR32-D7 went on today! New carb boots from cruzinimage_co (could not resist that price!). (I did not use the (with boots delivered) hose clamps that tightened too much oval for me. I reused my old stainless steel clamps from the 80's. Quality sucked, cracks within a few months. Honda boots on.

I had to warm the rubber with heat gun as usual. 1:st gear in and push carbs on with some force.

CB750 std style throttle cables worked fine. I had to add one M6 nut (10mm key) on the push cable so it got 2 nuts locking it. The nut had to be cut with saw so it could enter the wire. All nuts got blue thread locker Loctite compatible.
http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/honda/cb_750_k6/77/picture/throttle_cable_a_pull_-_slinky_glide/
http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/honda/cb_750_k6/77/picture/throttle_cable_b_push_-_slinky_glide/
No need of Mikuni throttle assembly KSR-001

The filters however, are really tight! I ordered KN oval filters (54mm fitting on carbs). I guess cone shaped might be an easier fit. The outer filters (1,4) had to be angled outwards when it is tight fit between filters and the hose clamps for fuel hoses that come out between 1-2 and 3-4. I could not angle the fuel pipe on carbs downwards when the fuel hose clamps need space. Fuel hoses aiming backwards a little bit up. There is a long  bar holding the carbs together that make it impossible to aim fuel pipe backwards and down. To the opposite direction, too close between carbs. It should be possible with fuel hose without need of clamp holding it.

One issues is the 2 fuel pipes on carbs for 8mm hoses, pipes on tank for 6.3mm hoose. I'm currently waiting for reducers 6.3mm-8mm. I'll use the thinner hoses from tank and use the reducers/adapters before hitting the engine case. http://www.do88.se/bilder/artiklar/zoom/NR6-8_1.jpg

Fuel filters with entry hose diam 6.3mm from tank and secondary side 8 mm to carbs would be a good alternative.

I changed jettings:
mains from 150 to 135  Update: 135 too lean at road test with OK fuel hoses. Back to 150. Waiting for the returned winter to go away so I can test.
pilots from 27.5 to 25 and back to 27.5 again. Update: back to 25  which is correct. Kink on fuel hose tricked me earlier.
Air screws or fuel screws, 1 turn out as delivered.
Pilot mixture screws, fuel or air?  Update: Fuel verified

These carbs have vacuum connections so I can synchronize them with meters. I hope that float bowl levels are correct. My clear tube tool for my old VM29 fits these carbs too, same diam on bottom plugs.
Waiting for small parts again until test ride. There is too much sand on roads left used on icy roads past winter. Roads will hopefully be brushed and sand removed soon.

Twisting the throttle with these carbs is very easy!! Very smooth and need only 1/6 turn fot full throttle!! My old carbs OEM and VM29 needed a regrip of handle to hit full speed.

I'm very curious how the bike will react with this short throttle turn PLUS acc pumps!!
Update: Engine idles very smooth compared with my old carbs. 1200 rpm despite rather hot cam.
When revving the engine I get thoughts about lightened crankshaft.Reacts like plenty of mass less. But carbs only!
Soon road test.

Several Dyno runs and road tests fixed the carb setup:
Pilots: 30
Fuel screws 1 1/2 turns out
Needles: 2:6 from top
Mains. 135. ( 137.5 with more open exhaust)
Currently 1005cc. It will work with 836 too.

Again the frame mod made everything much easier!
Remove tubes, access the carbs much easier. Thank you very much Frank! (forum member 754)

Wow, I mean just WOW. I got my 750 all together today and took it out for a ride after having the cases apart to address a transmission issue and I'm nothing but smiles right now. It was my first serious effort at messing with a transmission so I was apprehensive on whether I could fix the issue the bike was having popping out of 4th gear when under a load but right now it shifts smoother than it ever has since I've owned and no problem with 4th gear anymore. Today has been a good day for me. ;D

Nice work Scott!!!!  Glad the new trans worked for you.  My wife worked all day today, so I managed the kids and worked in some time to sneak in to the garage to get my cases together.
Goes in the frame next weekend....hopefully.  ;D
