Replaced the air filter with a custom built one.  Much tighter fit for the box.
Tightened the #2 exhaust valve, gap was probably double what it should have been.
Reset the idle air mixture screw on the #4 carb, was probably 1/4 turn too far out - I can't remember if that's too lean or rich.

Cleaned the control switch interior.  A lot of my electrical gremlins went away after I wiped off all the grease and dirt that had accumulated in there.

Haven't gone for a ride, need my brake line before I can do that.  Brakes are just too mushy to trust.

Nice haul from Canadian Tire...

Mothers Back to Black
STP High Mileage oil treatment (for the ZDDP)
Permatex Ultra Grey (AKA Hondabond)
Permatex thread sealant
Permatex dielectric grease

Mothers Back to Black really works! Holy smokes! My airbox is all scratched, but at least it's shiny now!

Also did the second round of torques on the head.. loosened 1/2 turn in sequence, tightened to 8ft/lbs then 15ft/lbs.

Installed a new gasket for the cam chain tensioner, which is held back until I get the cam/sprocket on.

Drained all my oil. I'm letting everything drain overnight, and then I'll be dropping the pan tomorrow, too. Just to see what might be lurking inside... we shall see! Probably will give the oil pump screen a scrub, too.

I bought a battery and started it, it has been sitting disassembled in a damp block storage building  since november 2011. I got a battery gave it a shot of WD-40 and a shot of starting fluid, it would not turn over with the starter but it started and ran on 4 year old gasoline, one the second kick, I guess I'll put it back together and take it for a ride.

That STP additive may possibly just be some snake oil if you want good zinc. Here is one test somebody did on the stuff. Is it for cars that have high mileage already ? http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2701357#Post2701357

I have seen adverts for a zddp product from Eastwoods recently.  I'll still stick with the original zddp brand.

This is all that I could find locally. I'll try it, and probably get the good stuff for next oil change.

Replaced the oil stopper seal and spring in my K3 oil pump, to stop the oil draining into engine from oil tank. A lot of work, without a bike lift, and the oil still drains into the motor. No idea's what to do now. Can't ride it like this.

I used lucas gas treatment in my 750 a while back and hasn't run since.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________

I should clarify: Hasn't run right since.

I get backfiring and no power, dropped the bowls, pulled jets, cleaned, reinstalled no change.

Have the carbs off setting float levels, (correctly I hope) and blowing all passages, hope this will work.

Will put some electrical tape around clamped area of the manifolds, due to clamps feeling loose when removed.

Finished rebuilding carbs. Few highlights (details in build thread)

Ultrasonically cleaned (I know they look a bit dirty, was handling them after lubing during assembly, will clean it up on installation)
All NOS brass and rubbers
Polished all Aluminum (backplate didn't get the chrome finish, because even I don't have the patience for it)
Zinced every last bit on them (except the cotters, thanks to harisuluv!)

If it has less zinc than the oil you are using that is not good and if you use 20/50 you don't want it getting thicker. May be good for a very tired old smoking engine on its last leg, kind of like Motor Honey.

Finally got mine all back together and rode it some today.  Honda NOS head gasket, new transmission forks, third and fourth gear, better set of carbs, fork brace, added dual disc & new m/c, new cables that fit the superbike bar, proper Honda rear lester wheel instead of an adapted Kaw lester, redone speedo/tach assemblies with green LED lighting, and a charging indicator.  If it wasn't for the clutch rattle I'd swear I was on a different bike.

That's a good looker. Any plans to badge it? (just wonderin')  Proof that a cafe'd, or semi cafe" bike can look good with fenders. Very nice. Do the Lesters allow you to run tubeless?
