Not on the main forum anyway. Check the "other bikes" section. There are also other cb750 sites that cater to the DOHC.

Probably not a lot of parts, but occasionally someone might list or know of a source for DOHC parts.

Plenty of moral support and comraderie

Got my CB750 to purr nice and stable on idle, 1100-1200 rpm despite rather hot cam, Megacycle 125-20. Carbs not synchronized with vaccum gauges either.

Found the problem that tricked me for a while causing bad idle, behaviour as too lean and engine quacking like a crazy hen now and then. A loose ignition wire, still contact with Dynatek coil. The rubber protection kept it in place with unstable connection. Will strap 1, 4 wires into the frame.
Before that bad fuel lines causing too lean on 1-2.

Sorry no pics but worked on the everyday rider Honda 750 but , looked over and saw the 75 Kaw 900 Z1 sitting by my front door so wheeled it out and tossed a battery in. Over 60 today -Whoo Hoo . Open petcock and hit starter and game on. Purred to life with that evil old gas from last fall. Went to Sean B's shop and no one there but his Buddy and had a chat. Went out to a friends shop later who does old bikes and heard I just missed him. His shop is packed with work and he said he had not been for a ride yet this year. Tossed him the key and said go ride and chatted with his wife for awhile. When he returned with a smile I heard something about 80 in second gear and my 3/4 helmet with face shield I lent wanting to come off his head at 100 MPH. Guess He had a good first ride also   ;D ;D  I like the old 750's but there are other really good machines out there also  ;)  Back to the old girl soon and ---- Get'er finished
Sean you take it next if I can find you----- :-*
hey Eric, sorry you missed me.  It's because I have been working 50 hours a week and then running around like a headless chicken trying to make any one of my bikes ride-able, and generally failing in the attempt...they all need something that I can't get fast enough!...really got caught behind the 8-ball this spring...
If it works good, it looks good...

No worries. Unfortunately, I haven't found a site as good as this one for the DOHC yet.

I did get the new bike on the road today. Needs the carbs cleaned as it falls flat at 4500 RPM. Rear suspension was too stiff with the extra set of shocks and the front was too soft with no air in it.

Got it home and pulled both wheels to drop off tomorrow for new tires.

Well while we're talking about DOHC bikes, I did a little work on my 1987 Yamaha FJ1200 today. The weather here is still excellent for riding, but I haven't been doing much lately as I was channelling all my efforts (and dollars) into my twin turbo Subaru, but it's now legally on the road, so it was time to go play with my two wheelers again.

The FJ1200 is an amazing old beast, with 130 BHP it's capable of happily sitting on 150 MPH all day, it handles reasonably well for it's age (well, really good compared to our old SOHC4's, but not that good in comparison to modern bikes, but that's just the whole "evolution" thing, so no biggie) and with Yamaha's twin opposed piston calipers it should stop reasonably well, but mine has had a problem with this, that even new MC and caliper kits have not been able to fix.

After several attempts at stopping it from leaking I abandoned the OEM master, and bought these MC's from eBay.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/7-8-Motorcycle-Handlebar-Control-Brake-Master-Cylinder-Hydraulic-Clutch-Lever-/181688563825?

Just like me they were cheap, and as mine also has a hydraulic clutch, the other one will come in handy too. It didn't take long to mount and bleed the MC this afternoon, although it still has air in the system, (after I disconnected the factory "anti-dive" mechanism which may have contributed to the problems I've had bleeding the system in the past) so I've left the reservoir cap loose so the air can bleed out over night thanks to good old gravity.

Tomorrow, if I'm not picking up more parts for my little Subaru, I'll be riding up to Broadford to meet up with some like minded FJ1200 riders for a coffee and a chat. The big Broadford Easter motorcycle spectacular is on over this weekend, but I've got too many motorcycle chores to do this weekend, so won't be spending too much time admiring someone else's bikes. I just hope my brakes work! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

Replaced the swing arm bushes in the K1. Drift plus hammer and they both came out. Put the new bushes in the freezer for a bit, put the swing arm in the sun and tapped them in 5mm from the outer lip. Used the forum search function for the torque setting for the swing arm nut, all good. No movement from side to side so going around corners won't raise the heart rate unexpectedly anymore I hope.

Torque info found here: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=57279.0

Really more of what I've done to my bike over the past month on my 1975 CB750F0

New tires, Avon Roadriders
Sent out my rotors to get drilled, by member Anubis
New SS brake lines from Slingshot
Rebuilt calipers, front and back
Dialed my coils back to dyna 5OHMS, couldnt stand having a dead battery dealing with city traffic every day in combo with a halogen bulb
Brand new OEM kill/start control
Tracked down(crazy hard, I'm really worried I wont be able to find a whole set again) and installed new OEM needles and needle seats, new stock jets, cleaned carbs.
Fresh fork oil, put in 15w instead of ATF, very happy with the results
Adjusted cam chain tensioner
Gave her a bath.

Got some more things ticked off "the list"...

I made some shims out of gasket material to get adequate compression of my stud pucks. Gasket material is 0.75mm, cut in 1" circles.

with the crop of too-thin head seals we keep seeing, here is a way you can check the ones you got in your gasket kit (or elsewhere, like PartsNmore or CB750Supply, etc.).

First, check the step depth of the head hole. Then, check the thickness of your seal. You need at LEAST .030" compression, .040" is better. The too-thin ones are only about .005" thicker, which won't seal when the head heats up and the hole becomes deeper.

The pics tell the story!

This would have resulted in only 0.010" of compression. Not enough!

Boom! 0.040" thicker than the recess!

Also checked my float heights with clear tube method. I used water indoors. No gas.

Checked them all to the line on the left, which is 3mm below the lip of the bowl.

They all had to come up about 1-2mm, as I had replaced the needle valves with aftermarket parts, and the little spring in the needle is very stiff!

Also did end up making a custom bolt for the rear brake torque arm, as described in my previous post. I used a 1/2" stainless bolt that was 2" long. Went over to have my Father use his fancy-dancy lathe to turn the shaft down to 10mm diameter. Then cut 1.25" worth of M10 threads. PO had enlarged the hole at the end of the torque arm to 10mm. Then I filed down the bolt head to 15mm wide on the skinny sides. Slid it in perfectly! Using a nylon lock nut as well as a lock washer, this bolt won't be going anywhere!

Good start to a 4-day birthday weekend!

Bled the last of the air from the recently replaced brake line.  Now the brakes actually work - like I can trust them fully in traffic.

Will bleed them again tomorrow just for peace of mind.

Took the ol' gal out on a speed run afterwards, not very stable over 50mph, may need to take a look at the steering head.

Even after sitting in the rain for a week, it started first time with the kickstarter.

Bolted the head and didn't fall into the trap of forgetting to put the orings in at the back of the barrels, didn't drop the cam can and then as the oil rings were about to slide on the sleeve, crap forgot the dowels on the barrels. Got side tracked with kids earlier on and forgot them. Oh well, at least I found them and now torqued the head down in sequence. Back tomorrow to re-torque and button it all up.

As luck would have it, my new grips came in the mail today.

The old foam rubber ones came off fairly easily, the Honda originals slipped on with minimal trouble.  Whole swapout took less than 15 minutes.

I didn't even need to use glue (gulp!).

Not my bike, but my friend has a 2002 Harley and I'm nice enough to help him out. He said that his rear lights were working strangely and didn't know why. So we pulled the rear fender and found this:

Now that I've got my GL1100 roadworthy it's the bike my wife and I choose to ride when we ride 2 up which is cool because I was finally able to pull the ugly his/hers seat off my F2 and put the factory seat back on it.

When I had my 2005 Sportster 1200R, I found that the wire harness going to the rear tail light and turn signals was run under the fender, so it doesn't surprise me that the harness in the picture looks like that.  Since most HD owners lower their bikes, it was probably months/years of the tire rubbing against the harness, or something like that, and there's the result.
