Yeah that's super clean and makes me embarrassed about my wiring, haha! Is he running any other electrics aside from speedo? Trying to gauge how clean it could be with blinkers, headlight, electric start, etc.

Headlight is in its own loom, left and right handlebar switches each in their own loom, and gauge/indicators in their own loom. All run to seat pan, hooked to m-unit. He's running a combo LED strip twilight with integrated blinkers in it. All total, 6 looms from front to rear. Fully electronic filled bike  :)

Love it, thanks. Maybe when I get rich I'll pick up an M-Unit, haha.

Did a wee bit of wiring to help out a buddy on his project. Installed and wired up a MotoGadget m-unit, m-button, m-switches, mini speedo, and electronic ignition..

Installed my new adjustable shocks from 4in1.com

Taller ride, not by much, but it helps shore up my sagging end. ;D
They fit the shock mounts better than the factory shocks do - go figure.  Stiffer than a board, but for a big guy like me that's not a problem - plus they're adjustable so I still need to fiddle with them.

Am in the process of assembling my new/old factory headlight assembly.  Prior to this I was using an aftermarket affair - and it is a piece of junk.

Question - why is the adjuster screw on the side - rather than the top or bottom? :o

Up and down of beam can be adjusted by loosening the headlight mounting bolts. The side to side is for when you're riding down a straight road. You don't want your beam off to one side of the road!

Recently posted about a Boos Maroon K4 I just finished and put on the road. Today was rainy and cold so hit the shop in the afternoon and pulled out a K2 to finish. Bought it at an estate auction of a deceased owner during a terrible thunderstorm I remember, got soaked. It had a Vetter and some other goodies on it. Had that stuff stripped off and had already cleaned the carbs, new fuel lines, set tappets, new plugs, oil, cleaned front brake, etc and ran the engine off a bottle so it checked out well before storing again. I always do the engines and start up before going too deep on new projects to make sure they are worthy. Today I replaced the rear fender which was bent, installed a grab bar and turn signals, reflectors on the fork ears, finished off the headlight and fixed some interesting wiring he had to the rear end. All the lights, signals, beepers etc check out good now. The poor previous owner had just put new Dunlop front and rear tires on before he died so good to go there, still got the nubs. Not my favorite color but descent original paint, pic shows some weird glare. Next step when the weather gets better is to do a quickie tank clean and install, mount airbox, buff her up a little and finally get it out on the road where it belongs and move on to the next deal.

Not so much what I did today, as what I've been doing all winter. Got to take her out this afternoon for a quick but cold run and just barely beat the rain.

Tappets clearance, points gap, and air screw adjusted to spec on the 550K2. Loosened cam chain tensioner nut while at 15 degree ATDC, but that must be good as nothing happened. These things seem to have improved the idle and off idle performance.  Will check timing and sync the carbs this weekend to hopefully improve it more. Hopefully all of these things will improve my mileage closer to what it should be. Was running between 32 & 36 mpg. Good things!

That sort of mileage is pretty normal if you ride hard (fast accels, high speeds, etc).

Good to know. I wouldn't say I've ridden overly hard, as the bike is new to me and it is my first SOHC. Don't want to push it until I know more about it's reliability, how it should run and the sounds it makes. Mileage is really no concern of mine, because I do like to ride hard. But, I feel checking mpg early on could be a decent gauge of how well I have it tuned.

Received my breadbox air box today. Vintage one through eBay. It even includes the original rubber stacks, but they've hardened up a bit. Might replace them. Needs an extra layer of perforated metal to wedge some filter foam and tape to close off the sides.
Stripping the chrome and painting it flat black, like the engine.

My fork clamp black again since many years. I glass blasted it 1983, it looked so good so I clear coated it when I did my tank at the same time.
Today black again.  Photo taken when pait is still partly wet. 2 additional thin layer sprayed afterwards too.
(Place for handle bar cleaned with acetone after the photo was taken)
New handle bar clamp with pilot lamps to match it soon here. Correct placed blue lamp named Highbeam as my K6 has.

Had my forks rebuild, packed them up really well. Got them back in the same packaging with fragile tape all over and they looked like this:

Postal service dropped them, hard! Rebuilder will mill and grind them, new anodizing and back in business. Problem is, I don't have to time for it now. So will have to wait till September ends (yes, Green Day pun intended) when I come back from Spain.

Yeah, it is total BS! Especially since it's the national carrier around here...

The sender is responsible and they quoted me around €300/$375,- for the repair, which should be covered by insurance. It's just a huge bummer since it cost me €200,- to rebuild them and I've been so careful with them.
Nothing I can do now, so putting my mind on other things like how to paint over my chrome covers. (Yes, I am going to attempt that..)
