The pressure plate is still common as NOS part. Too easy to crack it when tighten or losening the bolts too much each time. Step by step. 1/4 turn each time on the bolts.
I know a guy that plan to produce some in steel.

Found and repaired the shorted oil sender wire where it comes through the starter well into the counter sprocket area. I will in the future replace the sender and wiring to it along with the pigtail to the alternator and such.

Ah, sorry.  I originally saw it on my phone, so it just mashed the two links together and it just looked like one.  $18 shipping is going to hurt though.

That's a common problem, especially if you're new to CB750's. If you know someone with a TIG welder it can be repaired, I've got a couple here that have been repaired and still work. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

The best welder I know doesn't have his own equipment, lol.  I'll definitely look into it though.  I went ahead and ordered a replacement, but it would be nice to have a backup.

Way too much. Keep looking. I just picked up a complete 77 clutch INCLUDING that for ~ $35. Just depends on how big a hurry you are in.

Check with Bill Benton.

That's true. But it also doesn't matter how careful one is tightening the bolts, if the splines from the center hub are not meshing with the splines from the pressure plate, that piece will break everytime.

Can't tell for sure from the picture, but the 4 posts on the pressure plate seem to be too far into down to make me feel comfortable that the splines are meshed.

There are 4 ways it can go. Only 2 are correct. 50/50 chance if you're not  looking.

Good pick up MC.  No springs...maybe? :-\

Yes, lack of springs confuses the view. IF one puts a bolt in and pulls the pressure plate into the center hub, one can feel the splines mesh.

Otherwise the assy should be pulled and checked.  This is covered in a multitude of threads on breaking lifter plates. I'l see if I can find one.

I took the springs out after it snapped. No bolts are attached in the picture either, the plate is just resting in the basket. I'll have to see if I can figure out the correct orientation.  It seems lined up the way I had it, and I just got a little overzealous on rotating the 1/2 turns.

So you are getting the complete mid-model clutch and basket. What year did you say yours is? The 77/78 are pieced together differently and eliminate the inherent clutch rattle that the early ones tended to develop.

When you put it back together the last plate ears should fit INSIDE the basket and everything should be sandwiched flat with no gaps. If your's has gaps remove the pressure plate, rotate it 90 degrees and re-insert it.

Mine is a K3.  Everything is installed properly, all that's left is the lifter plate and the adjustment finally. Unfortunately it looks like it won't get here til the end of next week.  In the meantime, I'm trying to find a welder or shop that will TIG the broken one back together.  I've already been down for 3 weeks.

Took these two to the CHP for VIN verifications.  I had zero paperwork for either, and now I can start the easy process of titling them through the DMV.  The same officer that verified my sandcast helped me out, and figured out that the CL72 is actually an early 1963.  He was pretty excited about the turbo bike, and told me to bring it by when it's done...said he once rode a GS750 with an ATP kit :)
