Ha! No mate, it's Broadford. There are several tracks at the complex, road racing, (that's Aussie road racing, where we go around corners, not just 1/4 of a mile in a straight line) speedway, and motocross. The gates were locked today, but there was a deafening roar coming from the direction of the road racing track, so I'm guessing there was some "Private testing" going on........... ;D

Cool!  I obviously dont know Oz race tracks except for Surfers Paradise, I miss the Indy cars going there.

Short trip after work. To test larger main jets, but it turned out to be a wonderful tour on curvy roads on the countryside and enjoying how good handling my old bike has.

Wow, that's a big looking bike, looks pretty comfortable though...

Is it just me, or does that instrument cluster look like a little drum set, lol...

Yesterday I swapped the 272304 needles in my 550F (which is fitted with 627B carbs) for 272004 needles (from 069A carbs). Set the clips to #2 and left out the 1/2 step tuning washers that I added last time.
Discovered that I had at some point made a mistake - one of the 627B needles that I removed had the clip in the #4 slot! (other three #2)
Re-vacuum synced the carbs and took it out for a short ride (dark freezing cold raining!), didn't go far enough to be sure, but it seemed a lot better!
Took it for a longer ride today and it goes better mid throttle range, pops a lot less on decel and the popping when idling is gone! (I think fixing my mistake probably made the most difference!)
Still stumbles at 1/4 throttle so it seems I need to change the #38 pilots for #35's- I think I have actually known this for a long time but have been procrastinating - I hope I get it done soon!

Took my K2 out for a ride, 1/2 mile down the road it started bogging down, feeling like it was about to die off on me. I got a feeling it was going to be a bad day. Turned out it just went into reserve :-[ :-[ :-[ Oh well, first time for everything ;D ;D ;D

Thanks mate, it's 2300cc's of stump pulling fun, a big fat bike for a big fat man! 60 MPH @ 2200 RPM, and 100 MPH @ 4000 RPM, with redline @ 6500. Yep, I often wondered why those gauges looked kind of familiar, and I think you're right, they do look a bit like a drum set.

I'm thinking about a temp gauge now after an incident yesterday, but it might just add to my anxiety, so maybe no......... Cheers, Terry. ;D

First one 32DD, second one 32AA but 5'10" and last one was 16 years younger but I screwed her one time too many. I'm taking that mistake off to college in 1 month then I'm free to come visit.

Short trip after work. Back to smaller and earlier verified in Dyno main jets. Shining sun on a blue sky, wonderful tour on curvy roads on the countryside and enjoying how good handling my old bike has despite 190kmh on not absolutely flat road.

My poor 550 has been sidelined he last few weeks.  The charging system failed on me.  I have had family in town the last 3 weekends and have not been able to mess with it much.  I have put a new voltage regulator, threw on a spare rectifier from a GL1000 I had laying around and I cleaned all of the terminals.  Nothing. 
 I had checked the resistance on the stator and it was wrong, but I thought it might just be my cheap harbor freight multi-meter.
Alas, I am an idiot.  I pulled the stator and could see the outside coils were f%cked.   Luckily, I had a spare, but the pigtail was chopped off about halfway up.   Soldered on the half from the bad coil and slapped it all back together.  Presto!  I am cruising on the bike!   

Now I just need to find a cool tank for my GL500, get the carbs rebuilt and slap a battery in that one.

Where would one get #35s?  Admittedly I haven't looked for jets in a while but could never see to find different size pilots.

Took the 550 to the local Show & Shine in support of Veterans.  Lots of Harleys ::), also a couple of nice Hondas.  Most interesting was turbo diesel twin, kind of Steam Punk. 8)  Pictures later.

Finally threw on the MotoGP Werks exhaust.... and of course it starts raining after I got everything tightened and wiped down. Ran it at idle for a couple minutes and then back inside. Now patiently waiting. Ugh! It sounds unbelievably good on just a bench sync. Reminds me of a modern day four 600 sportbike. Can't wait to get on the road!

Not a lot of progress as my time has been more limited by that W O R K thing.......

Divying my time today so the garage came first  ;D

Decided on 102.5 lobe center for the DP315 cam. Card says 104 so I moved it up a little for 1000cc's of torque. Why 102 POINT 5 you ask? have you tried to move it POINT 5? LOL. Turbo D ran some numbers on his cam program and came up with 102. Since I attempted MANY times only to realize that there are some situations where you SHOULDN'T read right to left, like on a degree wheel to the left of TDC...  Anyway my numbers at 102.5 came out to 33 and 58 degrees. Let's just say that I 'attempted' the timing soooo many times that my rings MUST be seated without even starting.

Got the top end buttoned up and the RC lightweight rotor installed with new starter clutch parts I forgot I had  :) On to cleaning up the frame so I can install this bad ass engine  :D  Powdercoat later once it all works and I figure out what I want to do to the rear as far as tank/seat/hoop stuff. After all this is my F'n 1000cc Hot Rod

The clock on the digger just passed 1,000 miles. Runs beautifully!!!

Pete's doing great. He's been avoiding the computer because before he knows it, he's lost hours of garage time to it. He's in the middle of an engine overhaul right now. Even if he's not on the forum, he's still focused on the bikes.
