Replacement petcock, new in-tank filter.  First time in my ownership this sh*t ain't leaked.  Very very happy.  It's an old, bad, one-year model.  Thank you eBay.

Fixed finicky neutral switch operation. Installed a slightly thinner o ring. A 10mm quarter inch drive universal socket would make this job easier if you do it when the engine is on the bike. :P

Synced my carbs again.
Other cam installed = sync carbs? I cannot find other reason than different cam and valve adjustment. Mikuni TMR throttle adjusters real PITA!

Unless you separated the carb bodies, or removed the slides, there is really no reason to re-sync

Took it out for a spin today and ended up stranded on the road :'(

No idea what happened, was happily in 5th and all of a sudden it turned off on me. I pulled over, looked for obvious things. Fuse is intact, carbs are getting fuel, all connections from the points out are intact, all connections to the coils are intact, all spark boots are in place. When I hit the start button it cranks/turns over but doesn't start. Ended up towing it home on a flat bed. Ideas? Please advise in my build thread...

I could not do with my bike as intended due to thunder and heavy rain. Drive it to verfy low speed with synced carbs. Must run smooth without jerky throttle response.

Synced my carbs again.

Only thing is raised needles in all 4, different pilot jets. Maybe the adjuster nuts that can move. I'll see if they change again.  Threadlocker (blue) might be too tough.

If you touch the slides, another vacuum sync is advisable.

Man, is it ever! I'd say more mandatory than advisable. I switched clip positions last night with carbs on the bike, so no bench sync. Ran like garbage and didn't have time for a vac sync. Had to turn the idle screw way in to get it to even run. Can't wait for a vac sync tomorrow night.

I do not think I changed the slides when the needles were lifted without lifting anything else except fot the cover and an allen head nut keeping needel in place. Lift needle with a thin plier or similar. Slide is the black rectangualt plastic thing...

I noticed that the carb sync affect each other. When one carb is too high, the engine rpm arise and make more vaccum in the other.
The nut with blue dot is sync adjustment. The mikuni spare part chart call this for lock nut, but its design is concentric and will affect the slide position. The idle is now better than ever, now more like r-r-r-r-, before more d-d-d-d.

I have to drive and see if the nuts vibrates in different positions and out of sync.
I'll use Loctite 222 next time  http://www.loctite.co.uk/loctite-4087.htm?nodeid=8802623422465
I'll search, find and order right now. Good stuff to have.

EDIT: I might have moved the slides when the nut that cover the needle was tightened rather hard. I tightened it with the allen screwdriver before but had to use an angled tool for removal next time.

Not today but a few weeks ago... (Forgivee if I already posted this, I have so many projects on so many forums its hard to keep track sometimes)

Finally got around to ordering and installing a shift cover gasket on my '73 750. After, I decided to install my new used carbs on my '73 500. It's a barn bike that I bought several years ago, it was last registered in '83. It had been parked for 30 years. Before I put the carbs on, I sprayed the intakes with some ether, hooked up a car battery, and kicked it over a few times. To my delight it started and ran a couple seconds.
Now it's sitting and waiting on me to install the new petcock and de-rust the tank. Then just a battery and tires before I find out it was parked because of clutch issues.
No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.

Finally got that fork seal replaced.  Took me long enough, but I was splitting my time between getting the air leaks out of the C750 and work (you know, actual get paid so I can eat work).

I have to give a big shout out to Stev-O, C-clamp to remove it, old seal to press it in.  Worked like a charm.

Seems like there's an awful lot of room between the seal and the bottom of the seal well.

Waiting for the heat to die down before attempting to put the cap back on the fork.  It's HOT out today and I can feel a burn coming on.

Mocked up the project bike with the painted tank and fender.  Installed the carbs with 108 mains and 42 pilots, based on the last test run about two weeks ago.  Decided to build a plywood seat pan that follows the bend of the Harisuluv hoop, and rout spaces for the electrics and battery. I'll then build a plywood cover to match, and build and upholster the seat onto that.  Looking for a usable MAC 4-into-1 header to fit a 550K frame -- the old 4-into-2 system I have for this bike is really ugly.

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
