Took my 550F for a test ride or two today. While I was weaving through the three lanes of traffic a P plater on a flash new matt black learner legal harley managed to get past me in the right lane but copped a red light just before the freeway, so I pulled up next to him in the centre lane. When the light turned green it was on! By the time we hit the speed limit (100kph) he backed off... but by that time I was a good 3 or 4 bike lengths in front of him  :D :D :D
Never under estimate what a 48 year old man on a Honda made from 40 year old parts is capable of hey!

Dyna III installed, harness and electricals mostly completed, headlight area complete.

Received some bits and pieces and my new Slingshot brake hoses. Thanks guys!

I'll be away until 10/23 so no progress will be made. Should have a couple more boxes of bits and pieces when I get back so I'll be able to take a small box to the powder coater and should then be mostly complete.

Stock carbs or Webers to start with during break-in?? I know stockers. Webers have a learning curve.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Pulled and charged the battery. It slowly dies over a few weeks and 500 miles or so. My alternator isn't charging to optimum performance and I need to go through the system and "refresh" the 38 year old system.......it's getting there.   ;D

Have control of your battery voltage level.
I installed this LED that show me charging OK when driving, blinking status when ignition is off that also look like an alarm. Highly recommended.

Decided to finally sync the carbs on the CJ today.

Oh, wait, I need 6mm adapters for the vacuum taps.

Oh well it's taken 4 years to finish the bike what's another few days....

I guess I'll need the 6mm adapters for the XS650 anyway, if I ever get around to it.

Always like the CJ, only lasted a couple years tho...Larry
Yeah well this CJ is really frustrating me.  Apparently I have a vacuum leak in the left carb somewhere. Dammit.

Yep. Keihin CV carbs. They looked good when I rebuilt the carbs but I missed something somewhere.
The vacuum on the left carb is way too low at idle.

Sunday is the Distinquished Gentlemens' Ride in Toronto so I did a once over on all nuts and bolts, then checked and re-sync'd the carbs and checked the plugs for tell-tale hints of performance issues.  ;)

How was the ride?

We had over 450 bikes in the Melbourne Australia ride. I was one of the corner markers for the day and ended up briefly leading the ride at one point...

... oh the pressure!

Officially Toronto had 94 registered riders and raised $20K, but I am sure there were way more bikes on the ride.  I was a great day, a good cause, and tremendous people... alot of fun!

100% sure they are good?   Most of the older ones I've worked on had a bad diaphragm(cracks)...Larry

Waxing day. all bikes get a good wipe down with a duster, gets mothers on the chrome and polished aluminum, then a light wax on most everything that looks like it can use some protection for the winter season.
I hate winter.

Finished cleaning up all the electrical connections on the bike, and started checking out my no charging situation. Need to dig into it more tomorrow...

Once the cleaning and dielectric grease was done I was blown away at how quick it fired up, half a crank it seemed and it came to life. Never fired up like that ever lol.

(yesterday) I got my carbs put back together.  Somehow managed to bend one of the pins that holds the float in, so had to fight it back out. get it straight and get it back in.  All buttoned up now though, the hard part will be getting them back on the bike!  Tonight I'm hoping to get them on, change the oil, gas up the tank and trying to start her up.
