I added oil to the beast and I am wondering if I should add Chrome or Black headers.  What say you.  Wrap is also an option.
Black  8)
A cheap header, saved from the junk pile, wrapped and VHT'd black would look good.

+1 a nice black header [not wrapped] with a Cone can.

I have a nice header for sale if you are looking.

Started on the forks to get the bottom cases ready to go to the powder coater with all the other parts.
So I got the forks out of the triple tree.  Both of them had heaps of rust up under the shrouds and covers (ears).  I used some very fine wet n' dry to get it all off followed by some cutting compound.
Next were the chrome doohickies... man what a pain...!!! but slowly slowly catchy monkey tapping all around gently and done.  Decided to polish the fork ends (the bits that hold the axle on).

After cleaning out the glass beads I loaded the blasting cabinet with soda.
It was a little chunky so I did a little chopping...  ::)
Cleaned up a carb body for the CJ360 to replace the one that broke when I knocked the carbs off the bench!

Nice, Pat! I know there are bikes on here with a lot more miles but it's a cool watch all the numbers roll over.

Replaced stock coils with Dyna 5 ohm coils (DC8-1) & Dyna copper core wires with NGK 5k ohm caps  to complete my ignition upgrade... Pamco was installed about a month ago. Hoping this corrects my weak spark on #4 so we can burn out some of the carbon buildup. If this doesn't fix my #4 issue, I'm probably looking at a top end refresh. Ugh! Hope to test run later today, then if weather cooperates..... get out for a long, spirited ride this weekend.... then park it for the winter.

I was in H.F. the other day and noticed they have an adapter for soda. Are you using that? Hoping for some nice after pictures! I have a set of Webers that could use a soda blasting.

Sounds like #4 is/was the wire (did you swap out #4 with #1?), the plug cap (previous comment), the plug or the carb since it is only on one cylinder.

Jerry, I had intended to swap the 1 & 4 wires to see if I could get some soot on the #1 plug and confirm the wire as the problem, but the wires had been snipped too far by the PO.  They weren't long enough to swap.  Also, because I couldn't snip much more of the wires, I just wanted to start fresh anyways.  But I agree.... I would have been nice to confirm a bad wire before upgrading.

I am ditching out of work in a half hour to do a little shakedown on the new coils/wires.  Fingers crossed that I get some consistent readings now.  It's gonna work!!!!!

No I don't use any adapter, I just install a smaller orifice.  Seems to work ok.  I got the CJ360 carbs back together. I guess I could take a photo.
But in the meantime here's the carbs from the 750K5 I did a couple of years ago. :)

I picked up a fresh box of 80 grit glass bead since mine is getting very difficult to blast assuming it's due to age and maybe 2000 grit now LOL. I looked at the orifice but wasn't sure how to remove it for replacement. Ideas??

I may try that conversion kit for soda when it comes time to clean up the Webers.

Those carbs look nice plus the soda is water soluble leaving no engine damaging grit.

I bought another one. BMW R1100GS. Pics when I pick it up on the weekend. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

My gun uses replaceable ceramic tips.  Yes, the soda works great on the pot metal.  Just make sure you have enough pressure. I run at ~90psi / ~15CFM

Pulled the Kerker off and dropped the oil pan.  No strange objects lurking in the bottom.  Going to pull the pump and replace the O rings.  Neighbor and I built a wooden stand to run the bike up on.  What a relief on my old back.  No more laying on the floor.  Should have done this years ago.

Got my '88 DT50 (49cc, liquid cooled)going this past weekend for the 1st time in 15 years. I was surprised at how well it got my 195 pound body up to speed. Neat little street legal smoker. But there is no way it would run through much snow. I don't think I could ever tire of the smell of 2 stroke.

Built the stand in 2- four foot long sections.  About 25 inches wide.  17 inches high.  The chock is from Harbor Freight.  The ramp attaches to the rear using the 2 spikes to hold it in place.

Looks are deceiving.  It's a 2 1/2 car garage shared by my 77 Monte Carlo, a 71 BSA Lightning, a 66 CB77 SuperHawk and the CB750.
