Haven't been riding mine either. :( Getting below 0C at nights, and lots of ice building on the roads... Salt trucks will be out soon. :'(

Time to lay Rhonda up for the winter and get working on that front end!

I feel you, Evan. The drawbacks of living in the north. Supposed to be single digits Fahrenheit tonight in my area.

I watch YouTube riding videos daily to get my fix. Going to top off my tank with fuel today, add some MMO & Seafoam.  No more riding until spring.  :(

Just what I need Magpie. My 58 year old knees can't take the constant up and down  that goes with working on a bike sitting on the floor. How about some info on the lift ;)

Hi! I'm in Victoria, BC and bought it at Princess Auto, similar to Harbor Freight in the USA. Here's the info on it http://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/1-000-lb-hydraulic-pneumatic-motorcycle-lift/A-p8133860e  There's another on sale without the pneumatic lift, just the pedal type at a lot less this coming week at $333.33. Thanks Cliff. Im in Greensboro, NC and I have a Harbor Freight only a few miles from the house. Here is the lift they have on sale today on black Friday for $299.00 that is similar to yours. Checked out some reviews on it and most seem to be positive. I know you get what you pay for and their is more expensive and better quality one's out there I know but no more than I will use it it I would think this one would service my purpose.

Also in Canada, I've worked around the Princess Auto ones before. Good units for the home bike mechanic!

I need to get one for myself!

dhall57, the only negative I have read about is the wheel "lock", it doesn't hold very well. Since I will probably have the bike on the centre stand or on a block I removed it. I think I would install a proper chock if I was going to want to lock the bike in. I have a Harbor Freight one I could use. Also, I'm a little concerned about putting my Goldwing on it. I can push the 750 up on to it and get it up on the centre stand quite easily - the Goldwing I'm not so sure about. Cliff.

I feel for you guys up north. I moved from Ct because of the brutal winters. One of the main reasons I'm still in Ga. is because of the milder weather. It's noon right now and 66*f, sunny and not a cloud in the sky:

And what did I do to my bike today? I finally received all the title paperwork for my inherited bikes. They are officially mine. #$%*obucket or this site won't print the pic right side up. No matter which orientation I post it, lame.

Today, after almost twelve years of owning my 750 I finally ordered some real side covers, emblems and matching valley green metallic paint.  I've been getting by for all that time with some smooth side covers, no emblems and forest green spray paint.  They've always looked okay, but they never did the bike justice.

I also finally got around to putting a relay on the coils of my 550.  Both of my bikes are kick-start only (broken starter buttons I never bothered to fix), and even though the 550 has always been the better-running bike overall, it always took a ridiculous amount of kicks to get going when the engine was cold.  I only got in one test start this evening, but on a cold engine that hasn't been run in more than a couple of weeks it started on the third kick.  It's never done that for me before.

It used to take me a ridiculous number of kicks - at least ten - to start my 550 cold, but now I prime it by giving it a couple of kicks (5 in winter) with full choke and full throttle before I switch on the ignition. With this done, it starts first kick every time (full choke, no throttle).
John

Today I replaced my idiot light panel with a much nicer one - it still had all it's original toshiba 3.4 watt bulbs but one of them I mysteriously had to replace even though it wasn't blown and worked fine when tested out of the socket!??
I need to reglue the aluminum panel back on - I tried using super glue but it has come unstuck again - doh!

Thought I'd try one of these. Not too expensive...cheap really, but I kinda like the look and a snap to install. Had to raise and pull forward the headlight bucket about 1/2". Maybe some pin striping to compliment the gold and orange on the tank. Haven't had it out just yet to compare previous buffeting to any protection the screen may offer.

You have to lay down for any kind of wind protection. These bullet fairings are more suited for low bars and rear sets. Ask me how I know!

"Laying down" is certainly not what I had hoped to achieve here.  I may discover real soon how glad I am it was not expensive. Seems a chore to find a fuller fairing that looks decent without a mess of rods and brackets adorning the inside of the wind shield. May not get it out till Friday, but whenever I do, I'll let you know how it went.
Thanks.

Ha ha, you've got to love those old Bikini fairings Fred, I put one on my shiny new Chicken Yellow CB750F0 in 1978. (it was 3 years old before the dealer could find a sucker to buy it, they weren't a popular choice here "back in the day") The F was a "Super Sports", so with the fairing, some flat bars and a black 4 into 1 to replace the bulbous POS pipe that Honda put on them, it looked very sporty, indeed.

Not having rearsets wasn't a major problem, once at warp speed I'd throw my legs back and use the passenger footrests as rearsets. The other problem with fork mounted fairings is that they can make the bike very unstable at high speed. (as I found out) Suzuki was one of the first companies to release a bike with a Bikini fairing (the wonderful GS1000S) and most owners removed the fairings very early in the bike's lives, not because they were unattractive, but because they induced "Speed Wobbles".

If Mr Mike's looking for more of a touring style fairing commensurate with that bike, there must be a brazillion old Vetter's on ebay? Just remember not to ride too fast with one on mate, unless you're gonna fit some vintage crashbars too.............. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Ooher, and the weather is just getting nice on my end of the pond, so I've been riding my bike every day. It was in the 90's today so I decided to wait until it cooled down a bit. I had a snooze, then around 7.30 pm I went to go for a ride, but even though it was still very warm, it was starting to rain too. I went for a short ride, but the rain was going straight thru my mesh jacket and jeans, so I headed for home after only 20 miles or so. No biggie, there's always tomorrow............ ;D
