Thanks and yes, the bars should be here today or tomorrow. Nothing out of the ordinary on the swing arm but multi layers of dust !

Getting the old screen out was a PITA and it was dirty!

LOL

Yep, the neglected screens can be difficult. Much easier when they get replaced once in a while! Every later model tank I've ever laid hands on looked like they still had the original filter.  :(

When I purchased my non-runner for $700 one brother thought it was an electrical problem the other a carb issue...

...when I drained the tank and removed the petcock there was about two cups of water in the tank, the screen and reserve tube were nowhere to be found.

Good thing I got to it since the water in the float bowl was corroding the inner carb body. A few more months and all of the carbs would have been toast. Bought and install the filter/gasket kit...it's all good and running! :)

Cheers,
Kenzo

Those are my favorite kind of problems...

ones that are stupid simple and easy to fix!  8)

That reminds me of one Saturday morning years ago, I left to run some errands and passed a car on the side of the road. The hood was up and there was a group of people milling about, as well as another vehicle parked behind it. Figured they were good so I continued on. About three hours later the car was still there with the hood up and just a few exasperated looking people hanging out now. The second car was now gone. I stopped to see if I could help...

Me: "What seems to be wrong?"
Them: "Won't start"
Me: "Go ahead and crank it over for me"
Car: "Crank, crank, crank" (literally three seconds)
Me: "Stop!"
Me: (After reaching in to snap the distributor cap clips into position to hold down the flopping distributor cap) "Try it now"
Car: "Vroom!"  :o

The look on everyone's face, especially after explaining what I had done: Priceless  :-[

The operator said he had just done a tune up on it. I explained that the distributor cap clips needed to be snapped back into position after replacing the distributor cap.   ;) 8)

Jerry,

I got my Delkevic Headers and the baffle from Crapy's.  The baffle is alright but not the quality that is showcased on their website.  The baffle is not all chromed and shiny... the end cap is ... the rest is bare metal.

So here is what I did... I purchased a two foot section of bare exhaust pipe from a local auto store.  It had 2.5 Outside Dimension on one end and a 2.5 Inside Dimension on the other.  I cut 3 inches off the one end and painted it with VFT Matte Black high temp engine paint.  Slipped the 2.5 Inside dimension over the installed header and placed the baffle over the other.  All I need to do now is get an exhaust hanger and I am all set.

I must say I am very pleased at the way the system looks...And... I am very stoked at the awesome sound it makes.  I am not sure how to post pictures on this forum.  But if you want I can send you an email with a video.

Yeah, Crapy's.

Sure Gary, I'd love to see it. That 2.5" X 5.5" insert seems a bit long for the 750F pipe collector tail as is. I use a free Photobucket acct. Quick upload from my phone then quick copy the "IMG" code and paste it here. Full size no jacking around with it. That easy.

finally bit the bullet and pulled the motor to investigate the seized kickstart, as usual had to get someone to give me a hand with the lifting but it's done.
up on the bench all the side covers came off along with the points plate (and only had to resort to the impact driver a few times.....), oil pan off to show a very unpleasant conglomeration of shards, flecks and chips of shiny metal attached to the oil pump filter screen, thats a worry it must be said. oil pump off it seems a happy unit with no slop or slap in the shaft. might pull it apart anyway just to check.
next step is try and work out which bolts i have to undo to get the bottom of the motor off and see if i can find the kicker problem. then lots of cleaning and putting back together with shiny new S/S bolts
of course this all depends on what i find in the way of sources for the metal fragments.
theres also the probability of an upgraded cam while the motors out and even if i don't then at the very least check the torque on the head and check the valve clearances

and while the frames nice and light (being motorless) its time to jack the front end up and sort the spacers for the stock front wheel in the CB900 forks so i can set up the 4 piston GSXR calipers on the twin discs

however play is over for the day cos mrs spottys gone out and left me in charge of a dog recovering from surgery so stuck in the house drinking cheap korean beer........
i blame Terry

Since a new swing arm pivot is hard to get and expensive...

Old one was worn, since the journals are harder than Chinese arithmetic I took it in to a pal, he ground it on his crank grinder.

ground grease grooves deeper, turned some phospor-bronze bearings to fit. Pressed in swing arm. Shot for .025mm bearing clearance Snug but not binding.

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

New mirrors, to replace the silly bar end ones that the PO had put on, and replaced one of the turn signal covers, which was completely worn out.
