That sounded great for a first start Jerry. Settled in to an acceptable idle. I've always had to fiddle with things on mine to get a good idle on first go. I didn't realize you had 2 F's. I thought you just had one with 3 different colored gas tanks!!

Sounds very good! Which cam?
1000cc sounds tempting. I have rods for it..... sleeves have 74.5mm OD into the case? Case bore is 75mm?
First step is tp prepare the case so a BIG bore cyl can be fitted when found.

Fred, this one came from all the late night EBay ramblings of a unhappily married father and his computer escape  ;D ;)  I began collecting parts after I scored the unobtainable (at the time) big bore 900 Henry Abe kit one late night session. Told myself I always wanted to do it up right just one time after all those years with the original. It snowballed from there. 5+ years. 9 countries. NOS, discontinued, bargains, etc. I picked everything I could from Honda. $$, $$, mas dinero. When it slowed to a trickle I began the journey. As a matter of fact I have 3 MORE nos parts parts to install on the original during the next week. I have shelves with a box for EVERY page of the parts manual in the basement. After the divorce I decided that a change in life is long overdue. The basement has never been finished and that is becoming a good investment in equity now. The new parts slowly turned into used parts into the boxes as I began the restomod and I needed to do something with all of them. Most were very useable just slightly used after 40 years. I picked a titled frame and engine. This is what you now see  :) If you want I can install the blue or candy presto red body if we get boring but that presto stuff is sacrilege to the 75!!

Thanks to all for the nice comments.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

First step is to prepare the case so a BIG bore cyl can be fitted when found.

Same cam I believe you are experimenting with, DP315  ;D  I did not have this crank cut but I did install a RC lightened rotor to help make up the difference. It has the Crower rods I got Jay to have a run made of as well as his 1000 kit. He did the cylinder work and opening the case half. Heavy rods but really sweet. Stage III head. Going for a torque street monster theme here as compared to the other bike with the stage IV head, 900, Carrillos, 125-75, and lightened crank with stock rotor.

Just wish I knew WTF I am doing  ;) ;) ;D

I hoped you used the DP315 since I had vague memories about your modifications and RC/DP315 cam.
125-75 will give more hp than DP315?

- Do you know the diameter of the case bore to fit the 1000cc kit?
I look forward to mount mine since the idle sounds good when hearing your video. APE ultra crank might affect the idle. I suppose that carbs and ignition must be perfectly set with lighter crank.

I'm still taking things apart. Drained oil yesterday. Oil pump with new gaskets got new countersunk bolts with allen heads.
Will remove clutch basket after work so the remaining engine will be easier to pull out from frame. Head, cyl and pistons are removed.
About Honda parts and upgrades to a CB750... I have got bitten by that nice bug too!

Before buying parts when needed, now buy parts to have spares home and not waste time waiting for parts. Buy NOS while still available. I should have bought mored Tsubaki HD cam chains a few years ago wheil still sold everywhere for $40US.
I got a NOS Front fender from David Silver a few days ago when the price was right, fender on bike is old and from a K2, nuts instead of rivited.

Now looking for rear fender. My K6 has not the US style of rear lamp, it's the K0-K1 version. Closest Rear fender is K1.

I have an old cylinder with tapered sleeves, 67.5mm bore that are scratched, sleeves must be replaced. Cylinder is an old version not made for the  8 large o-rings for oil transport. Oil leak will happen easier, right? New sleeves and 67mm pistons can be something for future or finding a 1000cc cylinder with freash bores + pistons (that need case bore).  I have a working 836 setup and the $$$ are flowing as it is...
But, I know myself...I will soon think about 1000cc most of the time, when going to sleep and when wake up... I have to get it to get  piece in my mind. :)

Well CB750 parts are getting way harder to find, and awfully expensive. Long gone are the days where you could buy a rideable CB750 for under a dollar a cc. Anyway, when I was scanning Gumtree (Craigslist) I found a guy selling a couple of CB750 engines.

The seller is a very interesting guy, he has around 80 bikes, but most are British, with a few Jap bikes that he's picked up along the way. He's pretty much retired, but invited me over to his shop, which is full of Classic Aussie Brit and American cars, and lots of (mostly British) bikes. It's always a good sign when you see that his "Daily Driver" is a very rare 1961 Jag E Type convertible, that was a race car back in the day:

Then there was just mechanical eye candy for as far as the eye could see:

But of course I didn't come here to admire Peter's collection, I needed more CB750 parts:

There was a complete F2 engine that had been restored mechanically, in anticipation of going into a Seeley, but the owner found a hotrod K engine instead, and a complete, "never been apart" F engine that had powered the Seeley for the previous 40 years. No busted fins or grazed cases, and I think I'll shove it in my K1 and just ride it for awhile. Not sure about what to do with the F2 engine, but parts are always nice to have..........

I know Carpy (Crappy) lived in Melbourne for a few years, I didn't know that he'd spent time in Canberra:

No busted fins, clean as a whistle, with re-seated valves and surface ground for a nice seal:

Sadly bargains are hard to find nowadays, it wasn't cheap, but it was good, so I'm still happy! Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

It might be the vintage racers that vacuum clean the market of cheap 750 stuff?
It has changed here too. A few years ago a complete engine for about $300US (In need of repair). A CB750 K1-K6 in rather good shape around $2000-3000US.
F1 and F2 can still be found in veru good original condition for around $3000US- K1-K6 double as minimum

Drove the lower race off the triple tree, getting prepped to re-paint where the brake fluid ate it away. Doing the same on the upper.

Fork bits should arrive today, then I can assemble the forks tonight!

Pewe,

I do not know the case bore diameter. I just sent them to Big Jay and let him do his thing. He plugged the oil return passages with aluminum?? inserts like the older blocks are and do not have the dowels or o-rings now. He filled in the spaces in the block between 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 with epoxy too.

Put on an oil pressure gauge. Seemed like the oil was wet sumping into the motor a bit, and I saw my light flicker on quickly while at a stop. All good according to gauge though. 65ish psi while riding and 16ish at idle fully warmed. Will drop occasionally to about 12

Terry, that looks like a pretty good haul of parts and on your side of the pond too! I take parts for granted more than you because they are plentiful here in the states. I couldn't afford to have stuff shipped from other countries although I did get a small package from Yamiya for like $10.50. I think its the worst between here in the states and Canada though for expensive shipping.

Thanks Guys, yeah I know what you're saying Fred, most of the 500,000 CB750's built were sold in the US, and while there were plenty here once upon a time, good used bikes and parts are going for silly prices now.

Anyway, having a bad back I was dreading the idea of pulling the engines out on my own. I can lift a complete CB750 engine on my own, but I'm usually sore for a day or two after, so I decided to work smarter, not harder.

I scored a "patient lifter" a couple of years ago that was being thrown out because it was missing some lifting stuff and the batteries were clagged, so I put some new batteries in it and re-purposed it as a mobile bike/engine lifter. I ran some rope through the engine mounting bolts and tied it off in a makeshift harness, and just lifted each engine out, rolled them down to the garage. Simples......... ;D

Well I don't know what's going on, but my stocks of CB750 parts, which have been depleted over the last couple of years are coming back thick and fast! I saw this pile of K1 bits on eBay tonight, the owner has had the K1 engine rebuilt with a big bore kit and a mild cam, so at last I'll be able to build a complete K1 from front to back. (my K1 has been fitted with a K6 engine since I built it all those years ago) Cheers, Terry. ;D

Hella cool Terry!! Looks like it's raining 750's over there lately. Do the pipes look as good on the other side? I'm gonna have to keep track of what you do with this one. All the good parts for your K1 and enough left to build another to flip (or whatever).

Terry, be careful when mounting the ign wires to the Ultimate coils. Not tighten too much, the threaded things for wires are common screws with small heads that will pop-out from the plastic coil housing if tighten hard with thumb and index finger...

Thanks Fred, those pipes are a mix of HM300 and 341's, so I might need to do a bit of "buy swap and sell to get the remaining HM300's. I was seriously thinking about buying another Harley when I saw this 17 minutes out from end of auction, and as much as I like Harleys, I've wanted a complete "restificated" (an original K1 with a bit of age to it) K1 for a long time, so the Honda won out! That red K0 tank you sent me is gonna look good in pride of place mate! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Ha-ha-ha!!! I know exactly about sneeking in parts..... I have a lot of parts going in thru the garage doormy woman has no seen. Good that she sometimes work when UPS arrive with big box from David Silver.
Other packages I fetch from the post office when I have to pay VAT and customs. She has seen that I payed $400-600US in VAT and customs only. She thought it was total.... I let her think that. Its my money I use but... the number of $$$ floating to the bike is like having a hot prostitute beside the wife...

Pulled engine.... Carbs, Head, cyl, pistons, studs and clutch removed before taking out the engine. Still very heavy.
Typical this part of the year when daylight slowly return to this dark latitude. Things apart in february, work to middle of mars. Everything  to work in the middle of april.
