as i've had no offers of help with sorting the seized (sometimes) kickstart i thought i'd get started on the twin disc conversion. i've gor CB900F forks in stock CB750K6 clamps and i want to use the stock 750 wire wheel so......
got new through bolts (longer) to hold both discs as well as speedo drive - still too short, no matter they'll do for mock up, can get longer ones later. next problem - the thickness of the second disc pushes the speedo drive further out from the hub and therefore the hub is too wide to fit between the fork lowers.
tried several combos of axle, spacers, axle end bolt thingy but every time the result was the same- hub too wide.
the best result i can think of is to ditch the speedo drive completely, make up new spacers for the axle and fit a digital speedo (or maybe GPS speedo)
this also means i can turn the fork lowers round so the calipers will be on the front of the forks which looks better and cools better
i'm not in the slightest bit worried about originality (the frame and engine cases will prob be the only stock bits when i'm finished) so losing the stock speedo (and tacho for that matter) can only make the whole front end look neater and will be combining with the smallest (vaguely) legal headlight and indicators
got to work out how i'm going to mount the digi speedo trigger magnet to the wheel or disc and the reader unit to the forks but i'm waiting a response from someone who's fitted such a thing to the disc on his Vmax, so we shall see (might fit one the Vmax too - can't look any worse than the stock speedo 'pod')
